Jules - I ruptured my ACL some years back - I did have to hassle the NHS Dr's & say I didn't want to live a sedentary life, which was their inital solution, but had it reconstructed and it's now fine.At the time it was a 9 month wait for the surgery and 9 mths of rehab afterwards.Going privately would have saved me about 6mths in the wait & cost at least 5 grand so I didn't consider that route.I've now just knackered my other knee and I'm waiting to see the ortho surgeon's again.Unless you ...

There is a specialist Knee Clinic in Droitwich, just down to M42/M5 from Coventry.
They are linked to a knee clinic in London, and deal with many of the best sportsmen in the UK. Do you have private medical insurance?

They are linked to a knee clinic in London, and deal with many of the best sportsmen in the UK. My ex-husband has had both his knees done there in the past, and my daughter had an op about 6 years ago. The surgeon (Glen Vardy) then had done Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler, and several cricketers, rugby players and skiers. He is now back in SAfrica, but there are other good specialists. Another daughter saw Rod Jacques last year for a knee problem - actually it turned out to be a foot problem that was sort of backing up into her knees so he referred her to a foot specialist (one who had treated most of the Sydney 2000 athletes at some time!).
Anyway, Rod Jacques also sees patients at the Winfield in Gloucester where we saw him for convenience, but he was recommended to us and he has an excellent reputation.
There is an MRI scanner in the next building at Droitwich as it is a private hospital, so they can scan you on the spot, they film the ops and you can watch the video afterwards LOL!
Thanks Ali yes have been back today that is what they think I have done torn my meniscus so my fingers crossed everything will be sorted now.
