Holiday in Chepelare and Pamporovo

Hi all,
I thought about this after my latest post on "What should be changed about Pamporovo" and thought of starting a new topic on the subject.
I talked about the way that the two existing resorts aren't working together to make the big plan for the future a real possibility.
That they should start working on the future cooperation together now.
Instead of throwing sticks under each others feet.

Please feel free to post your comments and questions regarding Chepelare and Pamporovo here.
I hope that the topic will be appreciated by the company and we'll get some good questions, ideas and so on.

Maybe in addition to "What should change in Pamporovo"
What should be done to improve the holiday makers experience from the whole area and not only Pamporovo.

Thank you Pavel

re: Holiday in Chepelare and Pamporovo

Without knowing the geography, does the liftpass cover both resorts, is there a shuttle bus to link them, is there even the possibility of skiing from one to the other via a network of chairlifts? If not, then surely this should be part of the long term plan to get people to the area.

Thank you for posting Pavel, it does make sense to work together rather than compete.

Hi Pavel,

Can you recommend some good places to eat and drink in Chepalare? We are out in Feb and will be venturing down to Chepalare.

Hi,
there is a shuttle between the two resorts.
If you need some more info on that, just ask. Don't know if you're asking in general.
The situation at present is that you cannot ski the two areas as a connected resort. They are 10km away from each other by road. Shorter distance from the top to top of the hills. And that is suppose to be the plan for the future. To connect them with gondola top to top.
Also a new resort should be getting build, no-one knows when however. Typically ...

They should be all connected top to top in a triangle if you like.
That is why I am astonished at the present situation of non-cooperation between the two existing ones. And I am not the only one.
Chepelare offers some good skiing. The longest red/blue run down the mountain is over 5 km long. That is quite good by any standard.
Over all a good skiing experience when the snow is good.
They just pu new snow cannons down the whole lenght of the 3.5km red run though. Makes a huge difference.
Going to check it out tomorrow morning Smile
Was there a couple of times last week and skied from mid-station down(about 1.7 km long run). Hard packed snow, but very good skiing.
Don't know if it is opened from the top now.
Need the temperature to drop a bit now. It's too mild at the bottom at the moment. Still ok to ski, but may be tricky if this lasts for too long.

Pavel,

Good thread, Thanks. How much of Meti Chal is open now and are the rumours of it having more snow than Pamporovo true?

There are loads of traditional restaurants with great atmosphere here in Cheps. and great prices. Certainly won't go thirsty or hungry here Smile
That's why we decided to live here and not anywhere else. Still unspoiled and hopefully will stay like that for a long time.

re: Holiday in Chepelare and Pamporovo

Hi Arron,
More snow than Pamporovo? I honestly wouldn't know. Not meassured it Smile don't like to make certain comments like that.
But the skiing I would say was probably better when I was there on Sunday.
As I said just above, will go and ski tomorrow morning and will report.
Probably try to go to Pamps on Sunday to make an objective summary.
Thanks Pavel

Thank you Pavel,

Arron is out on the 17th Jan for a few days and we will be out as a family from Feb 13th so we will try to look you up. It is not a problem to name restaurants on the site. We tried the Hotel Shoky and were pleasantly surprised that it is possible still to get a coffee for 1 lev! We were also told about a new pizza place but could not find it!

re: Holiday in Chepelare and Pamporovo

Hi Nicky,
Shokys place has certainly good food and good service and the prices are reasonable.
Another great place is Hotel Belona. It's on the other side of the river, which goes through the town in the same direction as the road to Pamps.
Might be tricky to explain Smile
I won't be here that time as I have to travel for few days, but will be back for the 18 Feb. But as I said feel free to contact me and you can meet our family Smile

We should also have some friends over from the 16th for the half-term so it will be merry. Always a good fun if you enjoy a company of few great people on and of the slopes Smile
There is many more places to visit, but hard to describe like this.
The new pizza place, I don't know of, but will find out for you Smile
Also if you're skiing Pamps, pop into Toni restaurant at the bottom of the Malina on the right. Great place great people and great food and service.
If you go with one of us you'll also get a better deal. Because rather that screwing local places for a commision the customers get a discount and we do normal business with these lovely people.
Restaurant owners are fed-up of local so and so's screwing them for a huge commission if they bring customers. People should be taken to good places with good service and not to whom pays them the most Sad

That is a very painfull topic however, which needs to be resolved soon and elsewhere....
Sorry for getting into it....couldn't help, quite passionate about these issues.

re: Holiday in Chepelare and Pamporovo

Sorry I wondered off, I wanted to say about the Belona Hotel, the food is fabulous. The owners are a great bunch and a lot of fun.
They are very fussy over what gets cooked and put in front of the customer. All food is freshly prepared every day and cooked from scratch. Just awsome.
But that's enough Smile
Maybe we can take you there or tell you exactly how to get there when you're here. You won't regret a bit of it Smile
