re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

Hi all,
I can't imagine there would be any reviews for this hotel yet as, judging by the threads here, it's only just opened. Never been to Bulgaria before but when i saw this on last minute.com for, as Lisa mentioned, £518 for two HB and 4* luxury, i went ahead and booked it (shoot first, ask questions later with deals like this) I'm sure you'll all agree Bulgaria is the best value for money right now due to the state of the euro. Anyhoo, while browsing for info i stumbled upon this site ...

If the link doesn't work you can google 'JustBorovets.com'. I'm sure the images are CGI's for the marketing blurb, (as borogirl lovingly describes it, hehe), until you get to the one's of the building site but it looks fantastic. We arrive on 28th feb and i hope it lives up to my expectations. If it doesn't, WHO CARES, it's a cheap deal and we're only there for the skiing and the beer aren't we. Booze

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

i was in the lobby and restaurant last week. the lobby was very nice indeed with a fireplace and leather sofas to sit around. I didn't eat in the restaurant but took a look at the menu. They were serving a buffet style for the the hotel guests but you could also take an a la carte option. The menu looked ok. there were also people in the pool so that seems to be operational. The outside grounds are unfinished but that shouldn't impact on your hotel in any way

hope that helps.

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

I will never go back to Iceberg hotel!!!
The rooms were cold. The swimming pool was cold. The receptionists were hostile. There is a disco on the underground floor and the noise could be heard to the 4th floor.
I did not feel safe - there were some suspicious, criminal-looking guys, who acted like jerks in the disco and threatened the guests.
Not a safe place to be.

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

guys I would try and switch to a different hotel, really.
@ spence: there are many ski/boot rentals around the cabin. I was happy with the one I used last year: right after you pass the building of the cabin look on your right and you will see stairs going down - it is there. I do not remember the name.
I read in a Bulgarian website that the prices this year are: 1 day full equipment 30 leva, 3 days – 80 leva, 6 days - 115 leva.
