We were there for a company party December 17- 19, 2009. The service was really poor.

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

we were due to stay at the iceberg hotel from the 9th jan for a week and apparently they had double booked the hotel for the entire season so we had to choose an alternative with inghams - we chose yanakiev hotel and had to change dates ( thank god we did) now out on 23rd jan, just check with your tour operator, we got told the week before travel of the problem. heres hoping your holiday goes smoothly and you dont experience what we did!!! Very Happy

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

Hi, my brothers, their partners and a couple of friends stayed at the Iceberg (usually stay with me and my family at our house but to many people this year!) and they had a nightmare. One of the rooms had no water at all and it took 3 days to sort out, the breakfast was OK, the dinners were terrible, the staff were verging on hostile, the hotel manager tried to kick them out because they alleged that the tour rep hadn't paid them, but it turned out to be an admin error, the pool was cold, ...

Goes without saying they are trying to claim the cost back from the tour operators and won't be going back. Doesn't look good for the Iceberg's first season. Hopefully they will raise their game, as the last thing Borovets needs is more bad hotels, especially with the current financial climate and poor snow fall.

oh my god soooo glad we arent going there now!!! this looked to be a lovely hotel and was what we considered a good choice, just shows useful forums are and really what a bit of info can do! Glad our situation seems to have altered for the better, maybe the "double book" was a god send and anyone else should look into this and have an alternative hotel lined up in advance, no one wants their holiday to be a scary or expensive lesson, just to have a good time and feel happy - even if there ...

re: Hotel Iceberg Borovets- Where is it?

iceberg was built and is owned and run by some less than desirable types. Put it this way they all have thick necks, dress in black and drive big black cars. a large portion of the apartments have been sold to their friends who also have thick necks, dress in black and drive black cars. I asked them why there are no kitchens in the apartments. The owner said it was designed to force people to eat in the restaurant downstairs. Interesting business approach.
