If someone crashes into you - insurance question..
Hi,
Just wondered how things work
If someone crashes into you and hurts you what do you do?
Take down all their details? Insurance etc, present their insurance details to your insurance provider
But what happens if the other party hadn’t bothered to get insurance, I presume you can still claim on your own as normal
What is the deal, take down the guilty parties details but then what, just let them go on their way?
Obviously in a car accident if the other party ...

Obviously in a car accident if the other party isn’t insured you ring the police, but on a slope is it a case of you just go through your own

Well - I would think it's very similar to a car accident. You would need to get witness' details and details of how it happened. The more information and proof the better.
As with any insurance claim, blame needs to be prooved especially if the guilty party does not admit liability.
That's not speaking from experience - just my opinion.
re: If someone crashes into you - insurance question..
I wonder how you could prove "fault" - is it one person's fault for coming down the slope at speed, or another person's fault for being stationery in their way (just a hypothetical scenario!!)
At a guess, I would say you would claim on your own, regardless of blame. At the end of the day, you buy the policy to suit your requirements, if you're getting one with good cover, why should you have to be at the mercy of someone else's cover that may be inferior to yours.

Yea i don’t take my insurance details up with me on the slopes,
Just wondered how things would work if the other party didn’t have any, if it really made any difference or if you just let them go on their way.
Seems to be that if your hurt and wasn’t your fault you ask them for their details but theres nothing to stop them not giving them over, and in the end you end up claiming off your own insurance anyway

At the end of the day, you're taking out insurance to cover yourself in the event of any accident, hence why you'd get the best cover available for the price you're willing to pay.

Ski cover is personal and does not cover third parties. An accident, and that is what it is, as no one intentionally runs into another, will be covered by each individuals ski insurance.
You could try to sue through personal litigation, especially if you feel the other was wildly negligent, pretty common in the States now, hopefully something that will not become commonplace here
