re: Just back from Borovets

To be honest i can't see where the prices have trebiled since last year,i spent less this year than last...

40 pence a pint i ask you where in the world would you get that??

I ate out 2 evenings and had a gerat 16oz fillet steak with half a litre of wine for £10...

If you eat and drink on the mountain then you get stung...same all over the world..

I really think everyone is missing my point here!

Yes Tim i know its 40p a pint, i stated it in my 1st post which is why i posted to promote Amy and Arie in the alpina bar, they are not doing something which the rest of the resort are which is making a 500% profit on every pint they sell.

Obviously people aren't reading everything i say!

re: Just back from Borovets

I'm with you Bluebird...I went to Borovets for a cheap "ski fix". The slopes aren't good enough to keep an intermediate skier interested for more than 3 days and so the advertised prices were the attraction. If people love the place and don't mind the increases, that's fine, I won't argue. But for me, I'll take lizaloveit's advice and not go back.

re: Just back from Borovets

I agree bluebird, i wouldnt mind paying the increases in price if it was a top resort for skiing. But id rather get better skiing elsewhere and pay dearer than get more and more ripped off in Borovets. (and ive been to Bulgaria every year for the past 9 years so thats saying something)

re: Just back from Borovets

Why is it that paying £2 for a pint in Bulgaria is seen as a 'rip off' yet paying £5 a pint in Austria (as I had to last week) is seen as acceptable? That has absolutely nothing to do with the skiing conditions.

re: Just back from Borovets

Depends on how many pints you drink in a week Very Happy and what price you put on better skiing conditions and infrastructure. I could have gone to Austria for the same price as I paid to go to Boro last week. I chose Boro for 2 reasons: 1. I like a bargain and thought I would get one in resort and 2. I like to try new places. I've been now and wouldn't go back.

If you want fast food then try the keebab bar it's £1.65,hope thats cheap enough...

Its not all about the price of a pint. I went to 2 places before i went to Alpina and Mountain Rescue Centre Restaraunt and i paid 16lev for a tiny pizza and came out thinking i would have been better off with a packet of crisps!

One of those places was Franco's Pizza an excellent place a few years ago but gone badly down hill pizza up 6lev and about half the size, the service was rubbish.

Oh yes and 8 lev for a 'cold' hot chocolate and brandy! 4 lev 2 years ago.

Mountain Rescue 10lev for a pizza twice the size. Alpina has good food with most things on menu for under 10 lev.

I dont mind paying 30 lev for something i enjoy and get good service.

Pete i agree with you £5 a pint in Austria is redicilous but my point is i don't want to see Bulgaria having prices like that in the next few years. Thats where i see it heading and people will start going elsewhere.

I will go back its great out there but some people will stop going and you must agree that wont be good for the development of the resorts and the country.
