Charles

Were the young yobs Bulgarian or British? You don't need to answer as I can guess.

We have always travelled during half term and as this genuinely family time have not witnessed anything we would not wish our children to see. We have also been selective in where we have stayed - firstly the Yagoda Village and las year at the Alpin opposite the Rila but certainly quieter. If it is your first visit it isn't alway easy to know the best position I do appreciate that.

We have always found BG to be friendly and like Edd were impressed by the number of local people who recognised us on our second visit.

We have been looking into trying somewhere different next year. We met with friends last night and have basically come away disappointed. They have set their hearts on France and we can't afford the price - £3300 for 2 adults and 2 children!! The accommodation prices are not the problem, it is the prices that the French charge for equipment hire, ski lessons and lift passes. Compared to £300 last year in Borovets, nearly £1000 for the equivalent in France (and that is only morning leassons!!)

So watch out BG we may be back.

Lets just hope that because the prices are competitive compared to the rest of Europe and therefore attract youngsters, that it doesn't become the next Aya Napa, San Antonio or Kavos as that really would spoil Borovets. Sounding old so will sign off now!

Probably best if we don't dwell on the past ... should all look forward to a brighter, friendlier, co-operative future!

re: Just returned from borovets

Hi, I just got back yesterday, stayed at the Breza, just up from the Gondola, and would be interested to know where all this yobbish behaviour took place, cos to get from the Breza to the Rila we had to walk through the village, and saw nothing.

re: Just returned from borovets

We are just back, 2 adults and 3 teenagers, our second visit, met up with a similar family, 3 teens and a 23 y.o. we all enjoyed it, they would all love to return. bg's very hospitalable, maybe we went too bed to early, but never witnessed any yobs, and hope that by helping their economy they can increase the amount of pistes, as shown in the gondola station picture, to provide more excellent skiing so that it is not so crowded on the existing slopes and the good snow lasts longer.

re: Just returned from borovets

We got back at 6am this morning, stayed at the Samokov and had a fantastic time. We saw no yobbish behaviour despite trying most of the bars & restaurants! This our 3rd time in Boro following 2 to Pamps and there have not been any hooligans witnessed by any of our group.
(Will do a full report when less jet-lagged!)

re: Just returned from borovets

It would appear Charles views of Borovets are by far the minority (if only one!), Lets take it he made a mistake in taking his wife to a place that was not up to his expectations (despite the brochures being pretty informative). I wonder if she enjoyed it, would she have preffered to have experienced the Boro nightlife a little?, i pitty her at home if he is as subtle towards her, but thats his oppinion and he voiced it!
