Evening all
My wife and I have just returned from Borovets.I was not impressed with the resort.I witnnessed many young hooligand shouting in ths street with yobish behaviour.I tried to book the best hotel in Borovets ,but was still appalled.I frequent the pistes quite often, but I shall not be returning to Borovets.I will continue to ski in the US-the pistes are better and hotels are much nicer. Also , there is no " boozed up brit" culture.Which i personally find offensive- and lowers the reputation of Britain.
Borovets can not and does not try to compete with the Americas with skiing, it offers a cheap alternative which does attract a certain type of client. Enjoy the US!
You were prepared to pay the price for Bulgaria, its well pointed out on this site what the resorts have to offer, I have skied US many times when with the Ski team I used to represent, but I knew what to expect in Bulgaria and I was ok with it, pleased if be known. Of course its not US standards, its not even, (in my opinion) Austria or France, but I can have 2 holls there for the price of one elsewhere and still do enough skiing.
Sorry about the "yobbish" element, but you get that ...

Sorry about the "yobbish" element, but you get that anywhere, try early season cos I didnt experience any in Jan when I was there, there again, i dont mind people enjoying themselves as long as it does not impact on me or the family.
As posted earlier, if you frequent the US, go back there cos anywhere in comparrison is going to be a let down if you look for that.
Remember, its what you make it!
It's also nice to know you're giving something to a "developing" country's economy. I made a special effort to buy a pair of itchy woolly socks (they could be mittens) from the ladies who stand around in the cold for people to buy. Of course they'll be going straight in the third world clothes donation bin now I'm home, but the woman was over-joyed that I bought them. I doubt they'll end up back in Bulgaria though, seeing as Bulgaria is actually quite developed (try Moldova or Romania... or ...

I'm sure I sound just as snobbish writing the above, and yes I often feel ashamed of British yobs, but don't diss Bulgaria.
