re: Musala

Hi, I've done this trip a couple of times now.
The first time we were taken from The alpin bar as pimpaclause mentioned to the weather station which is just below the mussala peak, this is about 30-40 mins on from the mussala hut and takes you across the frozen lakes. We couldn't go any further this day due to the conditions.
This is a fantastic trip but I would only ever recommend going with an extremely experienced guide (which we took two just in case ! ;-) )

You can get across to the mussala hut from the top of the third drag lift but this takes you through the worst avalanche area on the mountain and is not recommended without expert guidance and knowledge of the mountain. As someone quite correctly pointed out the caretaker of the mussala hut was caught in an avaanche last year and sadly passed away. He had been working on the mountain for many years.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip but be safe!
