Pistes Comparison!

In terms of pistes, out of the 3 resorts, which one would you consider to have the most difficult blacks, and easiest greens. As I cannot choose between the 3 resorts, if one had harder blacks than the other, I think it would make me want to go there; so if you have been to 2 or more of the resorts and have an idea which has the more diificult pistes, it would be greatly appreciated. Very Happy

Bansko, definately... The `Tomba' black is long, steep but wide... the `Challin Valog' black is steeper (almost 40 degrees on the right side), not so wide, but not so long...
We also have the `ski road', 7km of green standard slope back to the town...

re: Pistes Comparison!

If you are staying away from 25th Dec- 10th Jan and Half term dates, then you wont have a problem with the gondola in Bansko. I have been there 5 times now and the longest I have waited in 10 minutes.
The trick is to stay away from the busy weeks and you will be fine. I tend to get to the Gondola for 10am , so to be fair I miss the busiest time, but I prefer to have a lie in and get a breakfast first.

Cheers

re: Pistes Comparison!

yeah we would never go in holiday time, we like to get up on the slopes first thing in the morning, i presume as soon as the gondola opens, would anyone know what the queue would be like then... as this is the main reason for not going to bansko Confused

re: Pistes Comparison!

You should definately be ok if you get first gondola and are away from peak weeks.

Hi Dean

Feel like i have to do my bit for Borovets!!

Loads of amazing red runs. Even if there isn't much snow there are plenty of snow cannons on these red runs to keep them open. There are some blacks as well, but they are all do able!!

There are some lovely green and blue runs from the top of the mountain were an experienced skier would enjoy them selves

re: Pistes Comparison!

Come on Hilly, Bulgariaski is virtually dedicated to Borovets and Pamporovo, most threads being about those resorts... Bansko rarely gets a look in Razz
Dean, the gondola issue is being overstated, queuing is not an issue away from the busy periods as shown, and added this year the World Cup event at the end of Feb...
If you are getting up early for the 08.00am gondola you will have no issues, even at busy times Wink

If im to `up' Bansko (and why not, i live there), our uplift is superior to Boro being more modern, 2 new high speed chairs this season, over 220 snow cannons (one of the highest concentrations per km in Europe), now posted 70km of marked piste, unrestricted and accessible off-piste, 6% posted increase in visitor numbers last season with a predicted 10% rise this coming season, the first ever mens world cup event to be hosted in Bulgaria... and more Wink
And all this with decent prices Very Happy
