A skier has died on the slopes of Bansko. The 41-year-old male from Sofia, was confirmed dead today by the Mountain Rescue Service Ski Patrol.

According to initial reports, the Mountain Rescue Service were alerted of the incident at about 1pm and administered first aid. The skier had allegedly suffered injuries from an impact with a snowplough and died only minutes after the rescue team arrived on the scene. Further details at this stage are unavailable.

The body of the man has been transported to the hospital in Razlog where it will undergo an autopsy.
