I hate heights aswell Karen, not sure how high the lift in Bansko compares to that in Borovets but I found when I went to Borovets I just kept looking up the mountain. (At some points it is a near vertical lift) and it didn't bother me that much. The cable car at Alton Towers was worse!!re: Skiing lessons before we go or not?
I'm with Pete on this - learn when you get out there - my first holiday and all in that beginners group I will never forget -- had the time of my life and is the reason that I (we) keep going back there year after year.
oh and for the

Hey Nige...Sorry if I scared you, but I tell it as it is.There is no hiding the fact that the gondola trip up the mountain will be scary stuff to someone that doesnt like heights...and it lasts for 30+ minutes.
If it were me I would rather know what lies ahead of me!!
BTW Have you ever been to Bansko?

But i think you put Karen off for life! ha ha!
No I havent been to bulgaria before, but from what i have read its pretty tame and ideal for beginners and improvers as my wife and daughter are learning, but i am actually really looking forward to it as i think there might just be enough for me to do and at least we will all be able to ski together after their lessons , also looking forward to staying in a hotel as i normally go with friends ...
