Just spent about 10 minutes watching the skiers and boarders coming down to the mid station in Pamporovo.
I would guess that less than 10% of people were wearing helmets. Of course it's your own choice and they are not compulsary, but would you want to end up like Arron in hospital with head injuries?
The average skier and boarder can easily reach speeds of 40MPH. Try riding a bike at 40MPH into a brick wall - it hurts!

it will be our first time Skiing ever, we go to Pamps on the 13th and carnt wait.... I must admit the Helemts were the first things on our list that we purchased. We have our two childeren coming with us and its just not even crossed our minds wether to wear one or not!!! Its just obvious, we do alot of cycling and never go on our bikes witout a helmet. I can think of lots of reasons why to wear a helmet but not one reason not to wear one. Sorry but you do not look cool with your head ...

Let alone all the inconvienience caused to the other members of your party when you have an accident!!!!
maybe some people like to live dangerously or even like the feeling of skiing without wearing a helmet...
or maybe people have heard the message's but dont care for them...
here's an idea, why dont you make sure your wearing one and stop watching people and let them decide whats safe and whats cool these days!
are the other 90% of people all wrong? i would imagine that there are more people in hospital with broken legs than heads! should we all stop skiing because its ...

no offence intended but this sounds a bit self righteous to me
It's the first thing I noticed when I was looking at old YouTube clips of past trips ... look at the speed I'm going at without a helmet!
In saying that, it did take a big thump down on the back of my head to get me thinking about one, luckily there was no lasting damage, but these days I wouldn't dream of boarding without one.
... and while we're on the subject, how about adding (for boarders) wrist guards and impact shorts. Ok, the impact shorts are just to prevent bruised bums, but ...

Petes right on the speeds , we took a satnav with us skiing, we were suprised just how fast we were going, intermediate carving down a blue piste can achieve 40-60k and more. Bear in mind there are a lotta trees at the edges of pistes in Pamps
The comment about the broken legs, I agree there possibly are more broken legs than bangs on the head, but when you break your leg can you lose your memory? image waking up and not knowing people around you, your kids and family. For the sake of a few pounds you can save your life. We are not saying don't ski but take precautions to make sure you are getting back on the plane with or without an injury.
