re: VIP gondola pass!

Of course this does not happen anywhere else in Europe or anywhere else in the world I should think - simply because this is illegal! there is a little thing called "Competition Law" - I am amazed how the other hotels haven't sued them yet - Must be some serious mafia this Minev person to have this kind of power. Personally I want to have the convenience of the VIP pass that Kempinski offers but I don't want to have to stay at that dump! The other 5 star hotel is miles nicer and has logical ...

re: VIP gondola pass!

Cavalerra you are entering the land of the Mafia so to speak where there are no logical rules and you can not do anything about it.
you have to just put up with it or shut up.
And as you can guess because of that everything is distorted.not always. Visible on the surface I must say.

Lift pass is costlier than it should for what it is,on the slopes the mafia rule is the strongest where the bars restaurants are tightly knitted.
Security guards? In a ski resort?

Are we going to a Bank or to a Third world country place somewhere in sub Sahara to encouter these sorts of security protections?
I can not see in the normal Alps anywhere these sort of extras exept normal attendants at the lifts foreseeing the flow of people getting on them or mountain security for the purpose of skiing when not plastered with alcohol, skiing too carelesly and a danger to others .
Only one place remind me of a kind of very discreet personnel: Davos around the time of the yearly VIP World Forum.
And around Olympics for obvious reasons.

Beware or take on board and that when attempting trying BG as a holiday destination.

Snowlover, so you are business person which has perhaps thrown money down the pit and is hoping and aiming to recoup at least 20-30percent back.Just a thought.
I can not see any investor in Bansko at present who hasn't got the 'minus factor'
Exept the pioneers of course who started it all back in the good old starting days pilling it high and selling it to the punters in the created spin off which has followed for a few years and now are out pleased that they have managed to distance themselves from the present problems and left it all (sold out and gone away).
Very tricky to swim in these types of waters nowadays .
In what way Bansko is on the up?
It depends which direction you are looking it from.
Prices have fallen like a stone you know it very well.
It will take more that generation to adjust the losses for the unlucky ones.
You may say that as far as the queueing is concern Bansko is on the up(the queue is getting twistier up the car park perhaps Smile )

As for the VIP lift pass you can pay your way out of the terrible queueing problems Bansko has encountered because of the distorted proportion: block of flats/appartements to ski facilities.
If you do that though with the amount of extra cash you have to cough up, you will be enjoing it smootly in some of the Alpine heavens and have worry-free relaxing hols.
When it comes to bargain basin where the price of drinks is the main priority BG still has a little edge.
Even with this year with the amount of record snow bussiness establishments aren't signing good songs that's for sure.
Not in Bansko not in Borovets not in Pamporovo.

It will take a lot more than one good snow season me thinks.

Anyway if you are Bansko bound and not staying in Kempinski hotel try to negotiate the correct times for going up to the slopes and you will be fine.stay clear of the weekends(that's PM Friday onwards because you will not be happy chappy.
The rest of times should be fine except peak daily times I am afraid.
Now things are moving into last few weeks of season and things are getting quieter om all fronts but it shouldn't be like that.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts.
Be the witness of the record snows this winter! Smile

re: VIP gondola pass!

Well we have been skiing at the busiest times of the season in Bansko.

We are early risers and get to the Base gondela for 8-8.15am. The gondela opens at 8.30am the latest we were on the snow was no later than 9.20am with most times being on the snow before 9am.

Arriving at that time we join the line either on the steps outside or even at the back end of a very long line near to the main road.

Sure it looked worrying but once it opens it moves very quickly.

What Ive never liked is the same people day in day out hang around near the front door befor it opens even with a long line then stand at the side of the line and then step into it. The number f times I have said to them NO behind was often and when did raise that issue they just went behind me and usually others then complained an pushed them back further. Frankly though its only a few people and makes hardly any difference to time on the slopes so getting worked up about those pushing in forget about it instead just enjoy the holiday.

When we were out there at those busy times friends of ours would arrive at the gondela for 9.30-10am and there was zero wait. They arrived earlier one day but then gave the security guard for VIP line a few levs got to front of the line.
