Russians have taken over from the Germans in terms of queue jumping sense of entitlement and being a genral all round irritant. In a full week in Boro I never saw one of them smile.

re: Wiped out by another Skier / Snowboarder Stories

The wife was a Ski instructor in Borovets for years, she got wiped out from behind on Yastrebets two years ago by a snowboarder who didn't stop, knocked unsoncious, the bindings actually ripped from her ski's and she had to be carried down in the ambulance. She had a phobia last year and couldn't have people skiing behind her, which is not a lot of good if your an instructor. She is much better now but decided she won't teach anymore unless its friends or family.

That's a shame, Nick. Sad Hope her phobia lessens year on year.

There's no other noise like that of a snowboarder coming down fast behind you. That will evoke a response Exclamation Exclamation Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks Borogirl, She's fine and didn't have a problem this week end when we were skiing with 5 others, just hope she can find a job to keep her occupied when I'm at work, don't want to have to move back to blighty particularly in the credit crunch!!!!

As for snowboarders unfortunatly for me I Ski and board so I get in the neck every time the subject comes up.... thank god she don't know about this Forum Wink

How have you managed to keep her away from this forum Question Sad She would get alot of sympathy on here Very Happy Very Happy

Maybe private lessons would keep her occupied and be manageable. There's always people looking for them on here. If not she could always socialise with me when I come out Booze Booze

re: Wiped out by another Skier / Snowboarder Stories

I know for a fact she won't mind the socializing, like most Bulgarian's she drinks like a fish Booze Booze Sometimes (very rarely) I can't even keep up.

The real issue is that she's not bored its costing me a fortune with the amount of time she spends in coffee shops with her friends, I'm jealous really Razz Razz

2005, 2nd year skiing and 2nd time in Pamps, beside taking everyone of our group out at one time or another. They ended up sending me down first every time so they could see me (sorry Renata, if you read this). My moment of glory that week was losing control on the wide T-Bar blue and skiing over the front of a mans ski's and just brushing him, he fell down all the same and then started cursing me in some language other than English. I crash landed before hitting the table and chairs outside the restaurant on the right. Luckily nobody hurt but really scary moment.

My first time on a chair lift. We get to the exit point. Instructed to go left for the blue run but body took me right for the red. A sharp 5m slope was enough to send me into a rattly, wobbly, out of control snow plough banzai in a perfect straight line straight down the mountain. This was in Bavaria and we had been warned that the Germans would sue you if you crashed into them.

I was wizzing past ski schools like no tomorrow. Infact i think i was wizzing past everything. I just couldnt turn, nor did i have the balls to just fall over. Terrified as i was i just kept going and going and going. Until i realised that i was heading for a small wooden hut that hid the power station for the lift. As i approached it at a rapid rate i suddenly did the most amazing parallel stop i have ever done. Not sure how because i hadnt been taught it.

It took me a further 2 weeks before i could do another Very Happy

The best run ever Very Happy
