any snowboarders out there

Hi everyone,

I bought a burton customx wide for the hubbie. He is 6 foot (182cm) and the board is 162cm. But it looks a little on the short side, did I get it too small or do you think this size will be ok. We are heading out to bansko for new year so need to change it soon if i need to get a bigger one.

any advice appreciated.

where did you get the board from? normally they have a height/weight/ability chart somwhere in the brochure to help you out with sizes... if not try TSA website or snow and rock i'm sure they'll have charts to help you Smile

The custom x wide is for the larger footed rider (size 10 plus i think) which, i assume, if he's 6' should be ok.

The only thing i'd say is that the suitability of a board to a rider is determined by weight not height! Most hire shops will look at your height then find a board that when stood on its end will reach somewhere between your nose & chin. This is done for quickness, i.e get people in & out the shop and onto the next customer asap. Its not an accurate calculation

However, when buying a board from any good shop (or hiring for that matter) they will ask your weight and not height. Its all about how much weight and energy is put into the board in turns etc. If you are too light for a board, you wont have enough weight to get the edges of the board carving into the snow, therefore effecting your turns etc. I'd call a shop like ESW in chichester (speak to Mark if you can) or The snowboard asylum in Milton Keynes Snowdome.

Having said all that, I ride a Burton Air 161cm and weigh 14 stone and am 5'11, so it sounds alright provided he's not Victoria Beckham. Out of curiosity what does he weigh roughly?

He's a lucky man, here's hoping Santa/Wife brings me a custom x for xmas. Hope i'm of some help.

re: any snowboarders out there

thanks everyone. I am in Dublin and we don't have anywhere in ireland to buy snowboards so i ordered from extreme sports in the uk. When i talked to them on the phone they did ask his weight , he is 14 stone so the board should be fine. thanks for putting my mind at rest. I tried snowboard asylum first but they didn't have the board i wanted.

thanks again
