hi everyone!
just recently got back from bansko and food wise its not the cheapest or nicest but... we found a fantastic place called victorias.its soooo cheap compared to everywhere else and is cheaper then pizza express (12 of us had dinner-starters and main and 3 drinks each and it came to 310lev-about £155!!)and the food is really really good and good portions!!loadsa choices too!

we went round telling everyone to go there!u have to book up as its very popular with the locals.
its not easy to spot so when u come out of the gondola u need to take a right and its opposite the kempinski hotel.

thought id let u know as it was the best place we found and a massive bonus that it was sooo cheap!!

oh also,if anything goes wrong over there dont go to the police they are sooo rude and unhelpful and just stand there laughing at u....go to the kempinski hotel or a big hotel and they sort things out better than the police.thought u should know as i had my wallet stolen and they refused to speak to me cos i didnt speak bulgarian and really upset me!!the guys in the hotel who helped me said police are the lowest of the low over there and anyone can become one hence why they were idiots!

I will agree Victorias is very nice, on a bit of a high at the moment since its recent opening, but it is not that cheap from what i have heard, perhaps reasonable value would descibe it better. There are cheaper with really good food(Dedo Penne ex)
As for the police, the local plod are a joke, even compared to English police... They strut around full of their own importance... Better to get hold of the boys down at Blagoevgrad Was witness to a local copper trying to direct traffic at new year around the gondola, complete mess, area traffic officers turned up, gave him a load of abuse, got him to go, and then sorted his mess

it was really cheap and tasty compared to everywhere else in bansko!3 of us had food and 1 drink in lion barwhich was pretty average and was 66 lev,we went to victorias and had a meal each and 2 drinks and a starter to share and it was 40lev...is that not cheap in ur eyes?!thats about £20 thats why i referred it to pizza express cheap and chearfull!!!

we had a 30th bday whilst there and met up with a few people we met on this forum and they were gutted that they hadnt found it before then as they were spending a fortune on poor food too,i mean each to their own and all that but i think for peeps that want to spend more on alcohol than food then this is the place for them!!!

and arent the police an f'ing joke over there!i could of gotten myself arrested if i didnt stop myself from losing it with them!!

Went over New Year, stayed at the Predela Apts. which were very good, a few minor issues but got sorted quickly. The lift system is excellent, shame the Bulgarians couldn't organise it; when only a few lifts were open and massive queues area backing up there were 1's and 2's getting on 4-man lifts ????????? genius. Food on the mountain was good and reasonable price, the food in the town was also generally good, better value in the local mehenas than the aspiring Italian places. One place to avoid is the pizza place opposite the gondola station, the staff looked at you like you are covered in sh1t...... we asked for a menu a record 6 times before they would serve us. We got this general feeling of not being welcome in most places, with one exception - a Mehenas in the old town.

One of our group members also had their board stolen and the police were shocking, did nothing and were abusive. This is probably why the crime statistics are so low for the area......

Out of a group of 20 I can't imagine anyone will return to bansko or bulgaria.

Going to Tignes in 3 week to remind myself what a proper resort is like......and will probably be cheaper..

Gosh guys give a girl a break for trying to help people out no need to be juvinile and gang up on me!hahaha!!
And victorias doesn't do burger and chips its a bulgarian chain of restaurant recommened by our bulgarian rep!!
All I was trying to do was give some nice advice,obviously my personal opinion!I love dining out on holiday that's part of the reason I love going away but I had some not very nice experiences in a few places over there that's all!(For instance meat juice spilt onto my vegetarian friends hair and food that was not worthy of eating!)

Anyway I wasn't asking for replies just trying to help a few folk out if they are maybe a tiny bit of a fussy eater!

Me and my party loved it and 9 other men who came with us were impressed!
