re: bansko

The webcam is mid station.
Don't be fooled by it. 25 min Q at gondola and that was after 10am
All ski schools start at 10 til 12 then 2 til 4
And by the time all the building is finished and hotels filled, don't expect to even get on the slope b4 midday.
In my oppinion they need to open and piste another part of the mountain to accomodate this

The first hotel bus drop-offs arrive at the gondola at about 08:15, so the queue is already down the stairs and out of the door before it acually begins running at 08:30. You need to arrive before quarter past, but you will still have to wait at the head of the queue 'til half past. The days of having a private gondola with just you and a few mates are over, as most are crammed with 7 or 8 people. The only other option is to drive, or get a lift up the mountain, and avoid the gondola queue ...

The good news is that the permission for another Gondola has been granted. The bad news is I don't know when they are going to start to build it Sad

Is that a holiday you have to arrive early and wait 30 min to use something and if you miss the time there is a prospect of 2 hours wait with abit of fight at the end and listening to moaning foreign skiers in atrange dialects.vote with your feet! There are plenty ski resorts which will be happy to accomodate 2-3 Bansko's and still be without any queues. Will smile all the time and you will actually relax while doing the skiing.
Even another gondola wont sort out the problem of too many beds ...

Even another gondola wont sort out the problem of too many beds and people using the same runs.Mayor of Bansko has mentioned that there wont be any enlarging of the ski area in the future(more runs that is) just this gondola.if this year is busy next season will be double busy.

Sam
We got wise by the third day took out skis back to our hotel so we could get straight in the queue at 8.15 and not have to wait for the ski depot to open
that way we were up in time for a little practice before ski school - oh and a hot choc!!
