Dare I ask, what does BJ stand for?
Is a sort of extreme lap dancing club?

Hi, we run an English Restaurant a just a short distance from Borovets in Beli Iskar. Appreciate the concern parents have for their kids inhaling smoke so we offer a non-smoking restaurant with smoking lobby. Fantastic quality English/ European food. Prices are cheaper than Borovets so a short taxi ride is well worth it! Get in touch for more details of where we are! or search Eagle Rock Cafe, Beli Iskar..

re: none smoking bars in boro

what i noticed this year, much to the amusement of the Bulgarians, was a lot of (considerate) english people were actually going outside to smoke!! for non smokers thats a godsend, and the sooner the ban comes in in BG in line with the rest of europe, the better!!!! and the sooner we follow Finland here even better, ban them all together, its s8d all to do with choice, its a proven killer, try seeing from the health service end!!

Hey Fraser,
I also noticed that people were smoking outside the bars and couldn't work out why that was strange until I sat next to someone smoking inside, and realised!! For non-smokers it is unpleasant to sit in a smoky atmosphere and I used to sit outside a lot of the time in the day because of this. For one week a year though I'll put up with it because the good things about the resort outweigh the bad.
I too can't wait BG joining the rest of Europe!

re: none smoking bars in boro

the ban is supposed to come into BG in June but we will have to see if they implement it. They have already jacked up the tax on ciggies this year so hopefully they will follow through on the ban

I've just come back from Germany where they got rid of their ban because all the pubs started to go bust (like in UK) or became private smokers clubs. They now have a system where smoking venues have a sign on the door. Similarly there are non-smoking bars for those who don't like smoking.
I didn't see anyone dropping dead whether it be from inhaling smoke indoors, or from traffic fumes or hypothermia outside.

Ironically it was the Nazis who first used junk science to scare-monger ...

Ironically it was the Nazis who first used junk science to scare-monger support for a smoking ban and demonise smokers, coining the phrase 'passivrauchen'. The Germans have since seen through such social engineering tactics.
Personally I hope we can remember tolerance towards people's vices, before the health crusaders finish their job with alcohol.
I'm not standing outside with my pint outside a bar in a freezing ski resort. Now that would spoil the apres ski.
Booze

Unbelievable that people come back from their skiing holidays in Bulgaria complaining about coming back with a chesty cough and smelling of smoke. You said you found a non smoking bar called BJ's .. Why didnt you stay in there if it was non smoking and smoking bothers you that much Confused .
I dont smoke but cant believe how much people complain about it ..

re: none smoking bars in boro

calm down Marky, I doubt anyone wants to spend their time in one place the whole holiday, and some of the hotels do also smell smoky which is unpleasant for non smokers/kids. This is a forum for comments/suggestions/indignant remarks so let people have their say. I don't like the smell, but as I've said before will put up with it becuase of all the other great things about the resort.
