Mr Plamen Borissov of Borrisov law in Sofia http://www.borissov-law.com is giving his free time and has opened an Escrow account for the ?30,000 heating fund, we really need a complete new installation, to enable this institute constant heat and hot water for the children to wash and bath. please remember there is ice on the inside of the windows, damp beds and bedding, open your heart, no amount is to small. I thought I would add my bit for anybody new looking at this thread. We had lots of replies on our original thread but for some reason it has disappeared and Amanda has re-started it, so this one may seem a bit disjointed.

So to put you in the picture:

Amanda, from the UK, lives in Stoikite near the orphanage that we are trying to help and also works in Sofia. She has been struggling to help these children with no offers of help - until now. We found this forum and people have been wonderful with lots of offers of help. Up to now she has been trying to help them from her own funds and takes fresh fruit and veg. to them and has done a lot behind the scenes to try and secure their future. She has a large family of her own (adopted and fostered), she is a real saint.

As you can see people have offered to bring out all sorts.
Amanda has had to tread very lightly with the director and staff of the orphanage to gain their trust and has been allowed to take photos and take people in. A lovely lady from here, Paula, has collected lots of items and actually asked Asda and Superdrug to donate and they gave her lots to take out and she will be going to the orphanage with Amanda on Christmas Eve.

There is no hot water or no heating, so Amanda has just set up a fund, but firstly she is trying to get warm clothing for these children for the winter.

She did mention previously that there is a lev shop in Smolyan so if you are unable to take things out you can always buy a few items in Bulgaria.

If you could just fit in a couple of pairs of socks, EVERYTHING helps. We can all do a little to make a huge difference. Clothes do not have to be new, just clean and in reasonable condition. Some members suggested leaving their children's ski clothes behind as they would have outgrown them the following year.

Reminder. Amanda will be opening her office this Sunday from 11 to midday to receive donated items. It is near the ski lifts as you turn right into Pamporovo, up the hill. Her phone number is on this thread.
She is trying to organise collection points but she will always come to meet you and collect from you.
