I have finally heard from Easy Jet re extra baggage -

We are very pleased to hear about your campaign for the orphanage in Bulgaria and we wish you every success for this in the future. easyJet receives a vast number of requests from a variety of charity organisations and regrettably is unable to help all of these charities. As such, easyJet airline has chosen one designated charity, The Anthony Nolan Trust.

It is therefore with regret that we are unable to allow you an extra free baggage allowance, but again would like to wish you every success for its cause in the foreseeable future. We apologise for not being able to assist you any further with regards to this matter.

For people travelling to Borovets.

Amanda will always arrange collection from the airport when physically possible, however, a kind lady has emailed us and says she is a rep for Balkan hols. and is now working in Borovets, but has visited the orphanage in Stoikite when she worked in Pamporovo and would like to help. She has offered to be a collection point for any clothes donated and she will take them to Pamporovo. Her name is Katherine, and if anybody is interested please email me for her phone no.
I have also asked her if she would try and find out if there are any needy orphanages in that area.

I wrote to BA today to ask if they would be prepared to give a free baggage allowance for people travelling to Bulgaria with donations of clothing & items etc. for the Orphanages. Their reply was:

RECORD-LOW TEMPERATURES KILL TWO MORE IN BULGARIA
Heavy snowfall and temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius claimed two more lives in Bulgaria, taking the cold snap death toll up to six.

Knowing that these are the temperatures and that these children have little in the way of bedding, broken windows, little to no heating makes me more determined to raise monies for the heating fund, i hope that it helps every contribute just a few pounds, a few pounds could save the lives of children.

Had a reply today from Balkan Airlines ref. the excess baggage allowance for those taking aid over to the Orphanage. Here is the reply.........

Dear Mr Roberts

My name is Donna I work in the Operation Department. My Managing
Director has agreed to look into this for you but I was wondering if you
can provide me with some more information regarding the Excess Baggage
first, Do you have certain dates, Airport in mind for this and if so who
will be transporting them? If you have the booking reference's for all
the passengers taking part that will be a great help so we can advise
the airport staff.

Obviousy this only applies is you are flying with Balkan.

Just to up-date you on the progress from today:



10.30am I went to see the children at school and collected Jasmin and we then went to my office to collect aid for the children, it was a great turnout Jansully arrived, Jan, friends and family donated £300 or the heating fund, Jan was an absolutely delightful lady and she will give future support, we later shopped and purchased 24 new pairs of boots for the children which was great also they kindly donated 2 bags of winter clothing for the children, shopping was 4 hours.



Katherine has an office at Castle 3 came to say hi, she was a delightful friendly lady and she has agreed that people can drop of aid at her office or simply leave it at the reception, Katherine is raising monies also for the heating fund.



Lena and Simon Lisov from Chepelare gave so much aid to include lice lotion, hand cream, toilet paper ect I will email a full list lady, this lady is very passionate about helping not only now but in the future, this lady has immense energy and a big heart.

We have school bags now for all the children also. Jasmin and i will go through all th items donated tomorrow and give an up-date of item needed, thank you everyone for all the clothing donations the responce has been better than i could have ever expected. we need to concentrate on the heating fund now, please dig deap people x



As I have had Doug chauffeuring us around and he has not had any attention from me recently we are are going out for dinner
