Perhaps you should write to the Mayor (probably one in Smolyan) and complain and say the Booze is too expensive and you will all ski elsewhere and boycot the place - may make them think Wink

re: pamps not very cheap!

how far is Chepelare from Pamps and what sort of price should you agree with a taxi driver to get there?

15 minutes by car. Probably best to try and negotiate a price with a taxi in chepelare if you make regular trips as i have heard that the taxi drivers in Pamporovo will rip you off Sad

One thing i would say about prices is.... don't feel compelled to eat in the same bar/restaurant as your ski instructor every day. We found that most of the instructors have prior arrangements with some of the bar owners / staff, whereby when they turn up at lunch time with a ski school of 10 or so people, they get their lunch for free (usually at one of the larger places). The prices in these bars tend to be higher than some of the smaller outlets. Example, prices in the little irish bar ...

Example, prices in the little irish bar at bottom of blue run in pamps, much cheaper than the bigger place right next door (to the right).

re: pamps not very cheap!

got back from pamps yesterday and i would agree that some prices are expensive. 5 lev for a small bottle of coke at the bottom of the 3 man ski lift.
the place is ok, slopes are good but the town is a bit odd. alot of the bulgarians seemed out to grab as much cash as they could.
also, what is with the rubbish music in every bar? keyboard bands Confused

still had a wicked time, will probs try borovets next.

re: pamps not very cheap!

How serious are we talking here price wise?? I used to eat at a nice restaurant near the tower and it always was very cheap.. I appreciate that prices will rise as the years go by. But are we talking £2 a pint? £5 for a meal etc?? I have always been one for selling pamps to my friends for its cheapness and a great place to go. I am due to go out 1March and this has me slightly worried. I have been to pamps 3 times, and each time I have gone found prices have gone up a little. Which is to be ...

Are the bars still doing 2-4-1's?? Anyone been and can comment? couldn't agree more with the above regarding instructors, we found that out 1st time we went. And guys we knew who weren't learning were eating for 1/2 the price!!! £250 used to last me well for a week, are now now talking more for a good week!!!! Booze Booze Booze Booze Booze Very Happy

re: pamps not very cheap!

I'm with you Rich... quite worried that they'll spoil the attraction of the resort. Would also like to know about 2-4-1 deals in the bars. Am off in Feb and am stopping in an apt so will need to eat and drink out most of the time. Someone out there must be able to give us a comprehensive run down on the bars etc.??? Please!!!

I would not be surprised to hear prices up on the slopes, as you could take a £10 all day and still bring back change, but what about evening's etc?? is it to the shop for a bottle of flirt and a bag of crisps?
