re: skiing for experienced skiers

I'd trade the *risk* of getting lost and being eaten by a bear against the *certainty* of being mowed down by a snowboarder trying desperately to get some edge grip on the pistes any day Wink

re: skiing for experienced skiers

Hi
Been skiing for the last ten years and am a reasonable skier. Last year me and snowplough skiid both canada and bulgaria and found plenty to do on both. The only thingb I will say about Bulgaria is that if you are a true powder hound then Bulgaria could be limited. If you only do piste skiing then bulgaria can be as interesting as anywhere but not if you can only ski on perfectly groomed slopes. Saw people in Canada last year who would only ski on a few of the slopes because the others ...

Benefit of skiing Bulgaria is if you can ski anywhere there nothing else will worry you on the pistes.

re: skiing for experienced skiers

Dave.. your friends won't ski pistes that have not been prepared properly ????? then they are not experienced skiers Wink
Until you have experienced the joy of ice, rocks, mud, slush, new snow, cannon snow... in all areas on and off-piste... then i don't think you could call yourself experienced... Being able to cope with these conditions, and ultimately enjoy them because of the challenge is all part of the skiing experience...
Won't ski piste that has not been prepared properly Mad bet ...

re: skiing for experienced skiers

One other point about this is .If you look on the Ski.DVD site at the film made by Christo called top to bottom and how long it takes. When I can match that I will call myself expert and know there is nothing left for me in Bulgaria but not untill. That day I'm afraid at my age will sadly never come.

Hi Steve C.
"bet they demand the seats to be swept of snow before they get on a lift". I have skied in many country's and this ( providing service ) is THE missing link in BG. As a "tour" skier I walk up the mountain and ski down unprepaired slopes. But as a tourist who pays a fair price in BG for a skipass you might expect; 1 - the slopes to be well maintaned ( after snowfall ) 2 - the lift to be "comfortable" . The lift staff - people "looking grumpey" and ALL day watching me to get ...

The lift staff - people "looking grumpey" and ALL day watching me to get my but on an icy chair could also take the effort of cleaning the chair. That's why I pay for the skicard. Next time i'll walk upstairs and they can look grumpey at home down at their appartement's elevator. Do your job. Get the slopes prepared. Clean the seats.

In Bansko Bulgaria you can find your adventure will be cheaper for you and if you come after the new year holiday about 15 january or march you can take the best time for ski without any queue for the lifts.
I am working for Inter Sport in Bansko and if you need
quality ski or board i can explain what we have and you can easy check in the net about them.

lol at steve c Cool Cool
Mikey youve been on the grog again, i cant understand what you mean.....
I agree with the comments about varied slope conditions to be experienced, but i also agree with the fact that if you pay for a pass you should get a chairlift without sticking to it, and the pistes should be groomed, (they dont have to be flat and wide just groomed) and i also agree that the lift staff are without a doubt the most miserable, non customer friendly ive ever come across, and are a ...

Cool Cool

You still have to agree that BG is a cheap option and i rather have three/four weeks like that than 1 or 2 in the milky way.!!!

re: skiing for experienced skiers

Calm down, calm down...... Mikey, i've missed you Razz
Sorry for my tongue in cheek response, yes it would be nice to have happy liftys, and swept warm seats on lifts, especially for the cost of the liftpasses, and perfectly groomed slopes (though i don't think they are to bad)...
I was just trying to raise the bar a bit with some banter Razz
Better i remain miserable like most liftys Sad

O, by the way, we have snow on the mountain, but i don't suppose anyones interested ?? or perhaps ...
