re: skiing for experienced skiers

I have to admit that there are some lift attendants, pisteurs etc who perhaps got out of the wrong side of bed (everyday ?)... but even with these, to greet with a smile or `Dobre den' normally gets a response... Their manner though does not even compare to the port police at Dover who must be the most miserable, self important, up their own a**es group of individuals on this earth...
I think some good points have been raised on this thread, if you are not happy with Bulgaria, don't come ...

I think some good points have been raised on this thread, if you are not happy with Bulgaria, don't come back, common sense really ??? To constantly go on about how it does not compare with other Alpine resorts is perhaps a little non-productive, as BG will find its own level... There are obviously improvements that could be made, but overall its about coming on holiday, experiencing another country and culture. If the same standards were attained in all ski resorts it would be like visiting a big `snow dome', where everything is so sanitised and regimented that it does not provide an experience. Personally i have visited a lot of resorts, all over Europe, and i suppose each has its charms and benefits, to pinpoint a favourite would be difficult. Soll ?? or Kitzbuhal ?? both great party towns but for differant reasons.. St Anton ?? or Chamonix ?? both fantastic ski areas but for differant reasons.. Three Valleys ?? or Portes du Solei ?? great snow records but differant.. are you getting my drift ??
We have settled in Bulgaria for a number of reasons, the cost of living is obviously a consideration, the local people, the culture, the family importance, the treatment of us and our daughter, the healthcare (private, 2nd to none Razz), the food, air, surroundings.... and access to reasonable skiing in the winter.... but also fantastic summers, in fact a perfect climate.
If you can tick all these boxes elsewhere in Europe, tell me, and i will go and check it out. I looked for a long time, and the places that came close were the French Pyrenees (but full of French, makes liftys look happy) and expensive, and Granada above Malaga, but very poor snow record and murderous temps in the summer. Life is a choice, and you make them, i feel we made the right one... Mikey can batter on about us here, but for christs sake... he's living in the UK !!! Mug....
