skiing for experienced skiers

Has any experienced skier been to Bulgaria, if so what is it like in terms of enough opportunities

You are unlikely to find enough. Go to France, Austria or America

Sweeping statement Mat Surprised
I maybe may consider myself an experienced skier after thirty years, and there is plenty to entertain me ??? Granted i am not interested in sliding down billiard table smooth piste as wide as a motorway for 100's of km... I prefer skiing Razz

Providing the snow is good then Pamps would be OK for me for a few days. The runs are varied enough to keep you amused for a bit - plus its a good challenge to repeat a run over and over to try and improve and do it better or faster each time. The run is different everytime you do it.
I tend to find in the Alps that I am often just trying to cover the whole ski area and explore rather than work on my skiing.

Hi carole - I have only done Boro in Bulgaria, but bear in mind you are not on a glacier and your paying peanuts. I love the variety - I've learnt to ski on ice, all sorts of snow groomed and otherwise, off piste, on grass and nearly over tarmac - (just stopped in time). I love the variety and quirkyness of the region. If you want guaranteed snow as far as the eye can see you are probably better off somewhere else. I for one can't wait to get back - Roll on Jan 9th !!

Perhaps another consideration is to decide what `experienced' is ??. Is it that you have visited many resorts in many countrys ?? or that your level of skiing is of an expert level ?? which could be attained from visiting one resort for years..
Totally agree with most points, a run can be skied a dozen differant ways, the conditions changing as the day passes. If there is the need to ski 200km a day (why would you ????) especially when all the runs are the same, then go to the altitude ...

If there is the need to ski 200km a day (why would you ????) especially when all the runs are the same, then go to the altitude resorts, where i can assure you snow is not guaranteed... but if you want interesting, sometimes testing, quirky (love that) areas, with no limitations on where you can ski, climb, tour, then BG does offer... thats why im here Razz

re: skiing for experienced skiers

it all depends on what you want carole, as you probably know ten different people could all stand at the top of the same piste and look at it in completely different ways
then there would be another ten who wouldn't even dream of going down a piste and they would be looking at the terrain and conditions between the pistes and on the slopes on the next mountain where there arent even any lifts Smile
id say no matter how good you are, bansko is more than worth visiting for a week, and anyone ...

re: skiing for experienced skiers

thanks steve, i was wondering what experienced is. I have only skied in Bulgaria, but some of my friends who have skied all over the world, will not attempt to ski in some of the pistes here because they have not been properly pisted ? to me it is normal !!!
