I thought I will place it as new topic to give factual picture of the present situation.
So the weather is very warm at the moment in the BG montains and looks to stay for a week with no different improvement snow wise.
Last 3 days up to today the weather was spring/summer like.
Sofia up to 20's degrees, Borovets was nice and warm too -T'shirt day time-just a bit windy.
When you look up the montain snow is just nothing major.
Light covering only on top but very light.
From Sofia ...

From Sofia -looking towards Vitosha the situation is even worst.
BELOW AVERAGE for this time of year and not looking promising.
In Basko the early beginning has turned out to be a mud bath and utter JOKE-but I think when you are forced for financial reasons to make a fuss and open early now is a bit late to realise what a mistake that was.
Even in Sofia the so called winter park opposite the university with ice ring, snowboard ramp and bits around it looked like swimming pool and very much washed affair.
Last night was summer conditions like in Sofia-Warm torrential rain, thinders lighting water everywhere-nasty day.
Pamporovo not even worth looking judging by the weather front which is even warmer down there.
Probably not a sight of snow even on very top.
Sorry for all of people going pre-Xmas.
I know you will ALL JUMP RIGHT NOW and say just for argument sake- weather can change just in a hour.I was there many years ago this and that.
YES But not this time, not this year, not this day , not this week. There will always be another year.
And just in case you question the factuals of this mine reply:
I was there in PERSON I saw it, I felt it, I touch it from Tuesday until today.
And last: Happy St Nicholas's Day!
If you are connected one or other way to BG you will know what I mean. And if you are student-this 8th of December will be snowless celebration.
I can add that these snow less conditions are having a very negative impact on bookings to the Bulgarian mountains, with tour operators cutting their programmes by up to 50%, especially as Bulgaria seems to be the only ski destination in the whole of Europe without snow.
My prediction is that this is going to be a very short, unsuccessful season which will have a very serious impact on future seasons in Bulgaria.
It's early December!!!!!
last year was just luck it will snow just a little later as usuall, snow is always a bit scarce in Bg this early.
Patience my fellow skiers and borders
Chris for Prime Minister he sounds much better than Gordon Brown!! Snow is ALWAYS later in Bulgaria than the alps. The alps; historically has sooooo much more snow that’s why people pay all that money to go there,,,however ever some of us enjoy Bulgaria and enjoy the friends good time we have there, sure you may ski on a little ice but after a heavy dump it is the best place in the world to ski (sorry you professional skiers, skiing to me is about being on the slope with friends- nice ...
