Comparisons - Borovets and Pamporovo

Can anyone advise on the pros and cons of the slopes at Borovets and Pamporovo?

Borovets I already know. I'm not bothered about apres ski comparisons, only the pistes - Intermediate to advanced skiing.

How do the so called Black pistes at Pamporovo compare to the few Blacks at Borovets?

thanks.

I dont know Borovets, but have been to Pamps 4 years. Plenty to keep you busy, & not as expensive.

Go for runs 2, 3, 4, 5, 11 & 12 for harder challenges http://www.pamporovomap.com/

Pamporovo is easier and runs are shorter. Sunnier, it has bigger problems with getting enough snow. For the better skier, Borovets would be better, Bansko probably better still.

Try Bansko,
not enough in Pamps to keep you occupied....

On the contrary, having skied Pamporovo over 20 seasons I think there is ample to keep you going for a week. Sure you will ski most slopes several times, but then you would do that in any Bulgarian resort. The Wall is famous for it's sheer steepness and represents the ultimate challenge for any skier. There are other challenging blacks and reds throughout the resort especially the back red/black/red which is testing from the very top to the very bottom. Wall Shmall. A million miles from 'the ultimate challenge'. You should be selling apartments.

Thanks everyone.

But just how steep is the wall?

Black red black didn't see much on the video to suggest much blackness apart from the narrowing and possible icy sections. Maybe the steepness was taken out by the camera - which is possible. How do the gradients compare with Borovets, Pete?

I don't mind repeating runs.

I know what to expect at Borovets and wondered if there is anything at all more challenging at Pamporovo.

Hi Deano - (I'll ignore the post above. Anyone who can't even spell small obviously doesn't know the meaning of the word.)

The run is off the triple chair, then ski back parallel with the lift for approx. 100yds. Past the nursery slope then turn left and keep left. Well worth a blast. Starts black then turns red.

Would not say they are more challenging - just different. The Wall is very steep and although it's not a long run it is still an achievement to ski it.
