Basil
People choose Bulgaria because they love the place.
Alot of people who post on here have been to Bulgaria several times and its not because they are not loaded, they like the place & people etc.

I can only speak about Pamporovo + whilst I wouldnt agree with most of the complaints (you can find the cheaper bars pretty quickly, lifts are in good condition) the one issue I would agree with is the lack of snow. Notwithstanding the issues with Natura 2000, the Perelik project really needs to become reality if they are to cater for the expansion. re: BULGARIA - YOU NEED TO LISTEN

For what it is worth, her is my opinion.

Next two years = more of the same - increase prices and no improvements in the resorts

3-5 years = people talk with their feet and numbers of tourists fall year on year

year 5 - bulgarian people who rely on tourism will start to ask questions of the powers. The powers that be who have spent the last 10 years lining their pockets with shoprt term greed will be pushed out and the resorts will start looking for a long term plan.

years 5+ ...

years 5+ resorts will focus on infrastructure, pistes, facitlities and less short term greed. At least I hope so coz I have a place in Bansko. Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

re: BULGARIA - YOU NEED TO LISTEN

I'm in Boro now and have only this to say

BOROSPORT DON'T CARE IF YOU DON"T COME BACK

There will always be people from other nationalities who will come here to fill the gap. This debate could go on and on. Borovets isn't going to change a great deal from how it is now apart from getting more expensive and probably more corrupt. If you dont like it just go elsewhere. The runs are pretty limited anyway and you are too reliant on the gondola. If the wind blows you might as well forget it ...

So far this week the gondola has been shut Friday am, Sat, Sun, and it is shut today. There are far better places than here.

re: BULGARIA - YOU NEED TO LISTEN

Having been to boro the last three years, i absolutlely love the place. We all learnt to ski there with the excellent ski school and very cheap package of ski hire, lift pass and tuition. However, due to the price increases over the last three years and the poor snow record of the last couple and the fact that we have just returned from our first trip to the alps, we will not be returning. We stayed at Valmeinier 1800 and it has boro licked by a mile. The snow was fantastic, three foot on the last day. The lift system was superb with no ques and plenty of people on the slopes. There were endless runs of over 150km linked to the adjacent resort, with snow parks and half pipe. Prices were very reasonable, 9 euro for a pizza and 4 euro for a budweiser although thats not all what i ate and drank, honest. So im afraid thats it with bulgaria for me, unless they can match the standard in the alps without the continued price increases Crying

Got to agree with the above ,
The 3.5 hr flt from Scotland .
The 3 hr bus ride on some terrible roads.
Prices more than double 2 years ago
huge q's at certian times
miserable staff in the hotels
big q mark about the snow
living in a building site.
It will only get worse when all the new apartment are complete.
Im going to try Poland next year ....anybody been?
