Your holiday should have been protected by ABTA. You should get in touch with them as Nielson have obviously made a complete cock up. If you booked to stay in bansko Prun they should have booked that room when you booked with them. Contact ABTA and see what they say. I would also contacxt Citizens advice.

You trusted this company to sort out your arrangements, this is why you pay travel agents. They have made a huge error here and don't seem to be doing anything decent to sort it. ...

I wish you luck Sad

hi
Thanks rach for the reply. They basically said that when they book the rooms directly with the hotel and not through an agent this sometimes happens. They did also say they would try to get us a room there or offer a full refund plus £20 pp compensation. We have paid £350 extra for private tuition. When i stated that was not acceptable they stated "just read the small print in your contract" We are supposed to go in just over 3 weeks.

Nick

Did you use a credit card to book? If so, can they help?

I would fight it all the way. I can understand changing hotels, especially if it is an upgrade but to change resorts would be totally unacceptable to me. Everyone is saying that hotels/apartments are half empty this season, so surely there must be something.

Is it the same time as the Women's downhill? That maybe the only reason I can think of as to why they cannot offer alternative accommodation.

Good Luck

I would suggest you check availabilty with another operator, if they have something available, book it and recieve full refund and comp from neilson.

Otherwise, all though it is out of order, they can do this, read your contract!!!

re: Cancelled holiday to Bansko

It may mean they have to book accommodation with a hotel that they don't usually use, so push, push, push as they are not likely to want to do this.

I've never been to Bansko so can't recommend any but get a list of decent hotels acceptable to you and try insisting that they try them.

Good idea of Snowy Normans - try looking at Balkan, they seem to offer the widest range.

re: Cancelled holiday to Bansko

This seems really strange, the resort is quiet, bookings are down over last season, and i cannot imagine March being busier than now. My suggestion would be to contact the Perun direct and find out availability for the week you have booked and what they are charging. If they are fully booked ?? try the Lion Hotel opposite, or how about the Kempinski Royal Arena ??
Im surprised about Neilson, normally they are more accomadating...
