DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

Please save yourselves the heartache, the time , the money and the pain of praying for snow.

Book somewhere decent, Bulgaria cannot compete with the main European resorts because they tend to have snow for more than a week.

I do not mean to hurt anyones feelings or cause any upset but you cannot ski on rocks and mud.

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

you take pit luck sometimes with reasonably early season skiing/boarding. If you want guaranteed snow somewhere with a glacier would be my first bet, else otherwise you get the odd bad week now and again.

Thanks for that - I'm sure everyone on here will find your comments really helpful.

Having posted on here over 12,000 times verses your 4 I'm sure most people will value my comments as much as yours. Bulgarian ski seasons have changed significantly over the past 5 years and the best skiing is now from late Feb until early April. Bulgaria is still a fabulous place to ski for many people who return like myself year after years. This will be my 22nd year - and may I just add - next year will ...

Not sure I'd be doing that if it was all rocks and mud.

I have posted on here hundreds of times that it is too risky going to Bulgaria to ski before mid January. If you chose to ignore that advice don't come on here whinging and trying to put everyone else off their holidays just because you got it wrong.

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

here here,

Went to bansko for the first time last Mar (first week) and had fantastic conditions. Going again same time this Mar and thoroughly looking forward to it (just bought new Jacket - wearing it now in the living room...) There are alot of websites that show historical snow fall - do your research before you part with your hard earned!

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

I agree with Pete, I have skied in Austria in Feb half term for the last 12 years, and always had fantastic snow, I have skied in France in Jan, and not so good conditions. I went once to Borovets in Jan and it was no good. But for the last 5 times I have come to Bulgaria in March, and it is always brilliant.

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

I know ,why dont we let some people have an opinion but not others.
Bulgaria is suffering in terms of skiing as it does every year. All i am saying is tht people will pay good money to ski and they may not be able to do that ,which seems a shame. Its an amazing experience if its your first time.
For a few quid more you can go to a resort that has snow and an excellent infrastructure. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

Rule of thumb is ....

If you plan to go skiing in Bulgaria before mid January ... it's better to stay at home in your Des Res !!

Razz Very Happy

re: DO NOT GO TO BULGARIA

You are quite right about being able to have your opinion,it would'nt be a proper forum if you could'nt. The main reason I go to Bulgaria in March is because there is always good snow, and the cost of living out there. All in all it's unbeatable value.
