Take it you haven't been to bansko donkey. In 4 years i've noticed little in the way of price rises in bansko. Exchange rate makes it more expensive but year on year there's not been much change in lev beyond inflation.

where have prices gone up then ? the lift pass is dearer at christmas, but after that the same or cheaper and it includes mountain insurance. The mehanas i visit are the same price as well (in leva that is).

That's just as i've found it. The problem seems to be that in different resorts business are using different stratagies to maintain their income levels. In bansko a lot of places are actually cutting prices to increase custom and maintain cash flow. From what i've read it would appear that in pamps they're ripping customers off to maintain cash flow. Painting the whole of bulgaria with the same brush is kinda like going to london for the weekend then complaining how expensive england is.

My girlfriend posted at the beginning of the season her impression that prices had not risen in Bansko along with the fact that most bars/restaurants also did not adjust summer to winter prices as in previous seasons...
I will accept that in most cases the prices were to high already and to increase them would have been financial suicide. This end of season we have been witness to a flurry of discounting to attract what little business there has been, the market finally starting to dictate in a small way, could this be the writing on the wall ??
