re: Has Bulgaria\'s Ski Resorts Had their Day!!

Karen, I can't see anywhere in this article where anybody has slagged off Pamps or Bulgaria. What we have said is that we all have had damned good holidays in Pamps. All we are trying to put over is that those who run the mountain need to up thier standards - or we will all dissappear. Maybe another country will start to take to the Bulgarian slopes to take over the majority of British and Irish skiers that come at the moment - that is the chance the owners will take.

Maybe another country will start to take to the Bulgarian slopes to take over the majority of British and Irish skiers that come at the moment - that is the chance the owners will take.
I am basing my comments on the last 2 years of skiing down red runs covered in stones ripping our skis to pieces (okay you may say hire skis and you won't have this problem, but this doesn't happen in France for example because they look after the slopes because they are the workers livelyhood). I won't repeat my earlier comments, but they all point to the same.
I won't knock Pamps as I've never met a bad person, I've thoroughly enjoyed every holiday in Pamps (especially the 1st - best holiday of my life). We will all go back (especially as our party seems to get bigger every year - 17 this year) and everybody said they want to go back - so that speaks realms for Pamps.
Even we noticed that there were less people this year (maybe put off by the lack of snow last year), which should be warning sign that we can all hope is heeded.
I just hope that whoever runs the mountain takes a good look at what is happening and act.
As for those of you that have places in Bulgaria, let's not class your views as biased. We don't have a place in Pamps but we do love the place, my views are just as biased.
The good thing about this article so far is that everybody has made constructive comments. Let's keep it that way please, so that somebody may look at it and take note so that everybody will benefit. Very Happy

debossman0, I skied at Mayrhofen about three years ago and really enjoyed it. The Gondola in the village can get a bit busy but what you can do is catch the ski bus to the villages either side and get up the mountain that way with less queuing. I would also recommend at least one day on the Glacier at Hintertux at the top end of the valley. Along the valley there is a good variety of skiing that should keep even the most experienced skier occupied for they week.

I still do around 20-25 days skiing in Bg but without my family. With them--- it is only Alps and USA for obvious reasons.
A have vested interest in BG probably most from the people on this forum (probably some of you have stayed in my premises many times) and I know by saying bad thing about the place is not helping bringing new clients but something has to change and fast so we can bring back the lost clients.

Only problem we had was lack of snow and taxi drivers trying to rip us off. But have to say we love the place and will return. We had great meals at very good value and found everyone very pleasant. Just hope they improve the infrastructure to support all the development or better still stop building anymore complexes. Mikey you never seem to have anything positive to say about anything, are you a manic depressant lol Very Happy

I still think bulgaria is amazing, dont know what your going on about the slopes being in bad condition...there only in bad condition because it hasnt snowed for ages.Im sure if they did get snow they would do there best to groom it to the best of there ability.I went to boro last year and bansko this year and i didnt have problems at all,10 of us ate out a few nights and with drinks the bill never come to over 80 quid plus the food was brilliant. If people are that bothered about places like ...

Bulgarians are great people too,my instructor from last year drove all the way from boro to bansko for the evening just to come and see us all and hes coming over to england for a week in october and invited us out to his apartment in golden sands if we want a cheap summer holiday. He was telling us about why bansko is such a building site.Apparently what the mafia do is get investors from europe to pay up front for these aparments, and then just half build them and pocket the rest of the cash. But then again i go to a mountain to snowboard for a week not sit on my balcony and criticise the views!!!!
I think people just love moaning about everything and anything!!!

Mikey are you related to Jeffrey?

I give my opinion about the place like you do. Yes it tends to be more positive than your experiences but het ho i will carry on giving advise as long as others want it!

I don't big up my apartments and i don't try to push them onto others on here! So what's your issue?
I will be going back there because i have a great time whilst there. I have had bad experiences like many, but bad things can happen everywhere and do.

Mikey

Know what you ...

It could be you but only if you try a little harder and spend a litle bit more in the country.
Related to who?--I dont have a GB name sorry.
My opinion about BG is not based on experience it is based on what I see with my own eyes.
