I couldnt agree more MOO.

If I'd read some of this i'd have been put right off, but fingers crossed and some folk do say lots of positive things. Even ones who aint self promoting by the looks of things.

I was in the same boat this time last year. Just keep an open mind and shop around price wise.If you expect to get short changed etc you'll keep an eye on it and be careful. We found that you got what you gave with the Bulgarians and so did lots of smiling and always said thankyou - it worked wonders and we came home loving the place. The general consensus seems to be that you either love it or hate it. We love it!

Hi Moo

As per any other advice, peoples standards, beliefs etc are always different. I've been to Pamps that last 4 years (so not as long as others) & I have seen changes in that time alone but I have still enjoyed my holidays there. Ok so you do learn about where to go & not to go but you would do that with any place you visit in any country so why people think Bulgaria is different I'm not too sure.
I'm going to Pamps again in Jan & then Italy in Feb as decided we wanted a change so I ...

One thing I am sure of is you will have a great time, make many new friends & most likely get the bug (you should have gone skiing though, but thats a whole other story).

Hope you have a fab time

Very Happy

Carried on from last comment: ALOT of snow forecast for the coming week. You will have a great time, alot of what goes on here is just a big slagging off competition between pamps, borovets and bansko. All resorts are fine and the snow will be fine for feb, infact i might see you there since i will be there from feb 15th to the 28th!

Hi there are actually several more hotels that open all year round, including Rhodopi house, Orlovets and several others. I was in Pamporovo central today and i was dissapointed to see that the chinese restaurant and cafe at ski station one has not opened this season the word on the ground is that last year was a poor season so they decided not to open this year, i personally think that it would have had higher takings if they lowered the prices and or improved the service.

I do smoke but dont like a smoke filled restaurant, by choice i would eat in a none smoking area but i do find that any not all restaurants are filled with smoke just the ones where the ventilation is not enough to cope, im not having a pop at smokers just pointing out that there should be none smoking areas in all restaurants throughout Bulgaria, well i guess time will change this.

re: Is Pamporovo finished?

Thanks for the positive comments. I'm feeling a lot better about this holiday now!

I appreciate that people have different opinions on their holiday experiences so intend to keep an open mind and judge it for myself.

I wouldn't have been aware of the problem with short changing if it weren't for this forum so thanks for the heads up on that. Saying thankyou and smiling isn't that hard so will give it a go as suggested!

I hope to have a good time and make lots of new friends but I've already got the bug big time Wink I've only been boarding for a few months but have already spent a small fortune at the indoor snow slope back home! I'm so looking forward to trying it on a real mountain with runs that last longer than 20 seconds Very Happy

It's good to hear there's a lot of snow forecast and conditions will be good for February. We are out on the 7th to the 14th of Feb though Pierce so probably won't get to meet you.

Just going a little off topic, can anyone tell me what the Hotel Dafovska is like as this is where we will be staying?

Thanks

re: Is Pamporovo finished?

My first snowboard holiday was in pamps and i loved it there is plenty to go at as a beginner and the snow will be fine, if you need any advice about snowboarding or gear go and see the boys in the snowshack they are brilliant and good instructors too.
Just try to be a bit streetwise Very Happy
