rude arrogant up yours its my road mentality - truly a home from home then.

so the place didnt live up to your expectations - what did you expect from a country with its recent history - and now the chance to get what the "modern world" god help us - has.

To slag the country off is a tad retarded - if you like culture why the hell are you on a skiing trip - you should have spent your time getting out and experiencing the country itself. dont bleet on about culture, when as i infer from your post you are there for what sounds like a cheap knees up mother brown.

The vast majority of places around the globe where the culture hasn't been watered down by progression are behind on inftratsructre - and to the same or similar extent are in a mad race to get people to come and in essance to get some of the money spent in other countries ( who can blame them we all want better for our families )

if you are into culture you would expect this from developing countries as you would have seen it world over.

One of the aims of EU is about progression and development of member states - get a clue before you shout of youre next ill thought out comment

I have to agree with some of what Disco1 said, found a lot of the people quite rude in Bansko and there is no excuse for it....it was not just one or two either....thats not to say there were not nice people there too but a lot of them constantly had a 'face on'.

Found the food to be fairly good in the mehanas.

As for the dogs, surely its not a good situation to have them running around the streets wild... a lot of them we saw were very skinny and had bad injuries, even the local bulgarian people told me that they had a real problem with them and something has to be done about it

I wont be returning to Bansko, had a good time but there were just too many negatives.....it being cheap is not enough to cancel those out........sorry

Dirty? Well I was in the middle of a building site so very dusty, but I walked a far way around the old town and found it quite clean a tad shabby in some places but not dirty certainly nicer than a true sess pit that I live near called Luton.

Bad food??? Now you really must be having a laugh! Unless wich I suspect you only ate at Brit style places. I only had 1 poor meal in my week of eating in Mehana's and that was only a small part of the dish, the service in this place was good. Now I am fussy where I eat out here so I know what I am on about. The food can be samey but everything I had was hot and very tasty. Also the service was pretty good.

Rude locals? Well did you bother to learn how to say Good Day? Thank you, Please? I did all it was always warmly welcomed even if I could not pronounce it correctly.

Snow? Well I managed to ski every day so what's the problem? It is bad everywhere in Europe this season It is hardly the fault of the country now is it?

Lastly why do people like you go to emerging countries like Bulgaria and expect western standards? IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. This is a very poor country emerging from years of crap rule under the communist's. Infastructure and customer service will come but it will take a long time. Good grief we have only truly started to get to grips with the customer is king over the last decade and are still a long way behind the USA.

The EU ask that a number of simple criteria are met before consideration, one of these is infrastucture. Bulgaria hasn't got any.

You can stick up for bulgaria as much as you like, the 8 lads I went with won't be returning and will give an honest opinion to anyone I know.

If the internet had been around in the 70's these sort of comments would have been made then by Brits looking for cheap hols abroad!

Costs not so cheap but how much of the real Spain is left?
I for one love Bulgaria and find the people fine if you treat them how you would like to be treated.
have only been twice to Pamps 06 and 07 so have seen both sides of the snow conditions and have booked to go back next year.
As for only £100 cheaper, try booking during the half term holiday and see where you Bulgarian costs will get you elsewhere in Europe especially if you are a family of 4!
Sorry for the rant but these people want something for nothing.
