I did not enjoy going to Andorra one little bit five years ago - by that did not mean me showering all the people who live there with insults and abuse.
A report on stating the facts is fine -- lies lies and more lies is not. And I take umbridge on my friends being labelled as ignorant rude and horrible.
Been reading this with interest.
First things first, everyone has their own opinion.
I was in Bansko for the last fortnight, and didn't see any of the things that disco is complaining about, but don't doubt his opinion. I would however like to suggest that once made, a point can be laboured.
Imagine you are going out this weekend? Bansko is crap, you'll hate it!
Thanks a lot !
Hi, I have just popped over from the other site, disco1, you state about culture, did you bother to ask why the studs in most of the dos ears meant, did you find out what it meant by giving an even numbered bunch of flowers. or what is a second hand marriage. Hi, I have just popped over from the other site, disco1, you state about culture, did you bother to ask why the studs in most of the dos ears meant, did you find out what it meant by giving an even numbered bunch of flowers. or what is a second hand marriage. I have visited Bulgaria 18 times (during Summer) and yes there are some very poor places, I visit roma villages and see it with the naked eye, but then I spend Mondays giving advice on debts at a well known organisation in England and also counsel, addicts, alcholics and homeless once a week. Yes we have the ones driving their big 4x4's and we also have persons driving bangers, untaxed and uninsured. Try a Taxi fare from my home to Gatwick £60. get off the plane and thewy will charge you £90 from there. I have had my say, except I LOVE BULGARIA and all that goes with it.
Now now then kids if you can't play nicely then we'll just have to take this whole thing away from you.
Pete. I accept your knowledge and experience of Bulgaria is better than alot of peoples, but you can only call it as you see it. I was in Bansko for the same week and stayed at the Lion. I can completely buyin to the dog situation as they kept me up most nights, but lets face it I was on a skiinig holiday so how sleep did I really think I was going to get anyway.
As for infrastructure. ...

As for infrastructure. I reckon covering 160km on 3 hours from Sofia airport to Bansko in a coach aint too bad. No unless we managed to float there, there must be some sort of decent infrastructure.
Snow. Yes I've seen better snow, but I repeat I was on a skiing holiday. You pays your money and takes your chances.
Food. We did have a dodgy steak, but that was in the aforementioned Lion, which albeit great for atmosphere aint great for food. Apologies for the lack of a McDonalds.
Locals. Fair enough the Bulgarians in my experience are a surly nation on the face of it, but actually bother to talk to people and you'll find them generally helpful. Try catching the tube at rush hour and see how much you get from anybody.
Pushing in on the Gondola. This one I can believe and makes me howl with laughter, becuase this one certainly isn't a Bulgarian only trick. I've got a very expensive Snowboard at home that has the battlescars of several altercations from French, Austrian and Italian lift cues. So this I am afriad is a "deal with it". We're British, we like to cue. It give us a sense of purpose. Unfortunately the rest of world don't. They also prefer to drive on the other side of the road and we can't change that one.
All told I had a good time in Bansko but it could've been better. But that was down to the Snow and the fact that I had the flu for the last 4 days of the holiday. Safe to say that although I've got concerns about how the resort will cope with the sheer volume of people through the bottom gondola station once all the building is complete, I will be returning next year.
All of the above is only my opinion and is not the opinion of this website. This website cannot be held responsible for any of the words and opinions detailed above. Anyway I need to lie down now.
i absolutley loved bansko cant wait till next year. and cant wait to see all the lovely wild dogs well yesthey have the odd fight now and again but so do my dogs big deal.
Disco you and your mates cant have a good time because the bulgarians where moody, maybe butlins and the red coats will be more up your street, thats entertainment
Are you sure you went to Bansko?? Must have walked round with my eyes shut the last 8 times I went there! Soory disco1 - don't recognise any of this rubbish.
Must admit - the week i was there we met our fair share of grumpy people which is not what you expect when you go to a tourist resort.
Dogs - big deal - most big cities here have foxes, rats etc...
The food wasn't as bad as id expected - definately concur that the old town mehanas serve the nicer food!
Nightlife wasnt the best but beer is beer and the prices were spot on!
The pavements thing was an issue for us as well as we had two young children with us who needed pushchairs - ...
