no, no! That is not right. I agree that many people there are grumpy, rude and hate everything. This is easily offset by the charm of the place (have you explored the church in detail?) But if you go with friends and go to the mehanas in the eveniing, the place is great. At least that is what I and my friends think and we go there for several days and enjoy every evening. I am actually glad there are no entertainments there, such as open-air concenrts, street clowns, ice cream, Macdonalds. But as was said somewhere else on this forum, some people hate it and some love it. And this is fine. I personally hate places that are crowded with people, and when Bansko becomes one, I will probably migrate to one of the "other resorts" that you hint about.
Sorry Julie, if I spoiled your fun but I had to speak again to wrap up this discussion. By the way, I am also Bulgarian, so even we are divided on this subject. (as on everything else)

George, George, George, When did i ever mention in any of my messages that i longed for a Mc donalds. If i have two a year in England it is a lot so why on earth would i want one in Bansko. My wanting a bit of light entertainment is not that hard to ask for. I have travelled the world and enjoy the cultures of many countries and yes i did walk around the church. The town does not have to become tacky to have just a little more life. I am afraid the local people were rude and i will not change my opinion on that one and HAHA has confirmed that. Even i am bored with this subject now, so i will wish you all he best because i will probably not bother with this site until the next time i decide to go to Bulgaria. Unlike some of the users who do nothing but hero worship each other and really are very sad, i have a life

I see, that an honest opinion sometimes brings the locals to negative attitude. To be honest the resort has to wait for another year to grow. For the next season there would be built about 70!!! new hotels...

Hotel Bansko is really an old hotel who really needs renewal...

The staff in the hotels also needs time to think much more positively to the guests of the hotels...

Until the above is not in fact - Bansko will be a not so good resort...

So - wait another year and try it once again - I am sure you'll see the difference...
