re: RIP OFF

I found Frankos and Chilli Peppers both very reasonable for drinks (we were there from Jan 26th)......we caught Chilli Peppers for Happy Hour and was paying 6 Lev (£2.40) for 2 Vodkas and coke....and the atmosphere in there was fantastic too...even £2.40 for a vodka out of happy hour is not expensive (the size of them being UK quadruples!)...

re: RIP OFF

Again i am not talking about price but about thing added to the bill which had not been had . Food and drink . The quality of the food is another matter. We checked every bill we had and had been overcharged on everyone except The Silver eagle and White magic.

re: RIP OFF

It's the same in the UK though let's be honest. We went for a meal the other week and if I hadn't checked the bill (which everyone with good sense will) we had been charged for the wine that the table next to us had.

All I am saying is that people should have a bit more sense about them. Always check things wherever you are and use the same sense of caution with regards to your property wherever you are too.

I never had any problems in Borovets last year or this year.

re: RIP OFF

This was every night . And i am talking 100 --150 levs each time . As i said before our Ski instructor is going to work in Austria or Norway next year because he doesnt like how the tourists are being treated in his own Country.

Bikergirl

People can post negative comments about places if they are justified. But just saying that everyone is ripping you off is not a justified comment.

It's taken 25 posts to get to that they were charged 100 Levs more. But still we don't know which restaurant is being referred to.

re: RIP OFF

So what you are saying then is in "daisy bar in the flora , Frankos, Chilli pepper , Red Lion , Green king Buzz Bar" you were charged between an extra 100 Lev and 150 Lev per night for 26 of you.

Fair enough if that's correct - seems odd.

Don't get me wrong Borovets isn't the swankiest of places, I'm not for a minute disputing the fact it is "Blackpool with snow" and the food has certain qualities missing to what we are used to.

It's just everytime I come on here people are not ...

It's just everytime I come on here people are not saying exactly what the problem is, just chuntering away with no justifiable comments.

It's the same on Trip Advisor - the only people who post comments are those who have a cross to bear.

Your comments should be specific, so that people can make their own views from them.

I would say that you are disappointed more than anything because you have recommended Borovets to your huge group and it hasn't matched up to 12 months of raving about the place.

I personally think Borovets is a very ugly place in the town, not a pretty ski resort, but I have been twice and for the reason that I am still a learner and the cost of ski instruction far outweighs any other European resort.

re: RIP OFF

Well, in Pamps we had an itemised bill for EVERY meal/drink we had and not one tried to rip us off.
Correct items at the price quoted in the menu.
I only speak as I find and found that prices had risen by about 20%, but (as our instructor said) wages certainly have not!
Still a relatively cheap ski holiday but not the bargain of a few years ago.

re: RIP OFF

Lizzie,

i would agree with you 100%. Since coming home from Borovets last Sunday week I have not posted anything on this forum just so i could see if i was the only one who thought Borovets was a hole.

The food, the people, the slopes, the shops, the hotel, to be honest everything was well below the standard we were expecting.

Now don’t any of you say you get what you pay for – bullshit. This is my 4th time skiing, i have been to Imst in Austria twice, Yosemite in California and ...

Now don’t any of you say you get what you pay for – bullshit. This is my 4th time skiing, i have been to Imst in Austria twice, Yosemite in California and now Borovets. Ok i cant remember exactly what i paid but i wouldn’t have paid a whole lot more than i did this time round.

I found it extremely annoying how the staff in bars and restraunts were so unfriendly i felt like slapping some manners into a few of them.

Now im not going to rant anymore because i actually get mad thinking about how much money we wasted in Bulgaria....Bulgaria of all places.

Bulgaria has nothing to offer westerns.

if your thinking about going, the best advice i can give you is don’t. There were 19 of us there and im not just speaking on my behalf.
