Back from Boro last sat. Agree with Lizzie!!!!!! Dispite exchange rates prices have been hiked, locals seemed less friendly and ski equipment definately needs replacing. The runs were in bad shape and need to be maintained better. I realise its still relatively cheaper than other places in Europe but unless they pull their socks up the appeal of a cheap skiing holiday will soon fade. At the end of the day you want the whole package good skiing, cheap beer, good food, friendly locals....... ...

I returned from Pomporovo last week with money so no moaning from me. We ate in the best & cheapest restaruaunt in town by a long shot. The Danmar was 1st class. Wrangle the chef & Fensy the waiter oh & marie could not do enough for us they looked after us all so well I can't wait to go back next year.
I cannot reccomend this place highly enough it's a local owned restaruant & all the produce is sourced locally. The food & drink might be cheap but these guys don't skimp on quality ...
Hi,
I returned from Pomporovo last week with money so no moaning from me.
The food & drink might be cheap but these guys don't skimp on quality & service. A large kamanitza (local beer) is 2.50lev & vodka with cassis (berry juice) approx 3 lev what a week had by all.
The Danmar is less than a ten minute walk from the supermarket head out of the village, over the hill head down the road untill you see two large lights with 5 lamps in the middle of the road & the Danmar is on the right. You know you are at the right place there is a wee shop next door & they also have a drink link outside.
Go eat drink & be very very merry you will not be dissapointed
Mollie was that the pizza place next to the shop?
If it was I agree it was fab, we were looked after like kings, food was fresh especially the meat and inexpensive.
Returned from Pamps in febuary and wouldn't touch the place ever again.
True to say the holiday was based on price, and you get what you pay for.
Absolutely awful ski runs, rude people and ripped off left, right and centre.
I will spend a year saving up the spending money to go somewhere decent next time
looks like more than 50% of people beeing to BG(Boro Pamp Bansko wont go again there)It is bad but true vision of the present situation.and the half which is going to go there are only the ones with property in there stuck for the moment and in a dilema-should I cut the loss sell and get out or shall I stay for a decade and hope for better times after.
I have to agree. This was our 4th time in Borovets. The prices for food had gone up, but probably more to do with the exchange rate.
We had a great time again, the kids ski instructor was excellent. We were there 1/2 term and although busy, slopes fine.
Will be back next year.
just returned from borovets been twice b4. had a great time with little snow.
snow best we have had but ski instructor only interested in getting us in bars to earn him commission or to add private lessons to our group of 10.we were left to do ski-ing up an a nursey slope while he teached a beginer we have all been ski-ing 3to4 times.
he didn't even turn up for our presentation evening.
this was not the case a few years ago.
bulgaria for me has changed for the worse.
bars ...
agree

not all but majority.
very dissappointed.
went serbia last yr.would definatley go back there.
i rated borovets over serbia not no more.
I've had a kicking myself on here for not praising Borovets to the hilt. BUT I went 23Feb to 1Mar for my 4th time in the resort in 5 years.
I think the point people are trying to make is that the prices have gone up considerably in the last couple of years, but the level of service, the condition of facilities and the attitude towards tourists; has not.
I've stayed at the Samokov twice, the Flora once and this year I was in the Ela. All OK hotels in their own way, but I would ...

I've stayed at the Samokov twice, the Flora once and this year I was in the Ela. All OK hotels in their own way, but I would have liked the workers to have been a little more attentive and treated people as if they are on holiday, not squatting on their property.
I will always have a little fondness for Boro, but I won't be going back unless the facilities improve and the welcome is warmer.
