I was in Borovets from 10-17 Jan, and I was shocked by the prices, having been to Bulgaria 9 or 10 times before but in Summer when prices are much lower.
Yes the skiing was not fantastic but we managed to ski every day (I was with a fun instructor George from Samokov Ski School). I certainly I think the snow reports seriously overestimate the amounts of snow, but overall it was ok and the ski pack prices pre-booked are good (though the equipment is not great compared to alps). I certainly I think the snow reports seriously overestimate the amounts of snow, but overall it was ok and the ski pack prices pre-booked are good (though the equipment is not great compared to alps). I dont have my own skis and I would advise that anyone with their own think twice about using them.
Having seen the comments I think there is room for improvement, but if you think that most people here probably only have 4 months to earn any money then perhaps its more understandable about the prices (and apparently things have doubled since 2008. You get what you pay for and since I did not have great expectations it was fine. I would go again, but probably not in a rush and would need to be more confident that there was more snow.
Also, since its in a National Park, and a beautiful place to come in summer, then I'd hate to see the mountains ripped to pieces so that there could be better snow management.
Not really waning to gt into the argument like- but donttrustTheCam- wouldnt it be easier to just describe the featues of the Yatrasbetzs runs as Daring red asked?

If you look early on in the postings you will see that I agree with the original comment regarding the snow and the pistes. If you wish to question wether I know the pistes I am talking about I have been to Boro 10 times now and will be going back again next year. The snow management is bad and they need telling as it could be made into a much better resort if done properly. Also before you come out with the old if you dont like it dont go I go because I like the place and the ...

DaringRed - Im lost on the point you are trying to make or what you are attempting to get at get? Please Please Please just call me a liar and get it over with! I have never questioned your experiences in Borovets and have no need too!
Ian W - Settle what Ian? A childish trolls doubting thomas questioning.
I was in Borovets 24 - 31 Jan 2009. Stayed at the Iglika. Have 20 years experience of alpine and nordic. Skied all there was to ski in Borovets 2,3,4,5,6 times maybe.

Tried it, enjoyed it, got the tee shirt, commented on it. Going somewhere else next time - get over it!

You will always find that some people who cant agree with someones point of view can only defend theirs by trying to slag off the other person and not by reasoned argument. Continue to enjoy your skiing and give your reports as you see it as this is the only way both sides will be presented properly.

For those following this ridiculous trolls questioning -
If yastrebets 1 is the farthest run on the piste map to the right (as you look at piste map) then here goes.
Get off the 4 man express (which takes about 7 minutes from bottom) to the right. (Or ski down from top to same position). The top of this run goes further up from the end of the lift about 20 to 40 metres and is generally unskied because you have to walk up it. Boarders like to start up there though.

It is wide ish at first, tree lined and orange snow cannons start at approx the first left hand down the run and then continue down each side almost to the bottom. It gradually gets steeper and a little narrower as you go down.
For those who skiied this run on Fri 31 Jan 2009 please confirm that at about 15.30 ish, the run was icy as hell the lower you got, the snow cannons were on full blast and it was foggy as hell the lower you got.
About 1/4 ish of the way down you can cut across throuh trees to the run to its right and then go down a little further to meet the track which takes you direct to the mid station. At the mid station there is a very small cafe on your right with about 4 tables across the other side of track. You go up the stairs infront of you to get to the gondola to get to top and you go through the open door under the station to the other side and up the stairs if you want to go down the gondola. If you carried on the track with the mid station to your right and follow it down a little you will find a big orange sighn which says 'closed' or it did for the best part of that week.
Not sure if that is enough for DaringRed as he seems to be very particular about the evidence to prove you are who you say you are - sad man
