Cheers for that folks - Seems to be the opinion that ill pick up skiing quicker and can then move on to Snowboards...so I think ill ski and maybe do a lesson on the board mid week just to mix it up! Thanks!
I do both, but boarding gives you a larger grin factor but its abit harder to pick up.
with skiing you basically step into the bindings and away you go but boarding takes abit more skill but the end results are far better.
Many ppl convert from skiing to boarding and it does not happen the other way round that often, this in itself seys alot about snowboarding.
Either way enjoy your holiday.
Ive spoken to a few instructors on this debate and they had this to say.
Boarding - difficult to get to grips with (3 or 4 days) but when you do that is it. Boarding skills hit a level very quickly unless you are into all that leaping about in the air stuff.
Skiing - easier in the first instance but infinately more challenging as you progress. It takes a lifetime to master completely.

As for me (I ski). I dont care what people do as long as they are having fun in the white stuff and being resepctful of each other. God I sound old
Can't let you get away with those comments!
Yep, you can step into the bindings and away you go, but that's because humans have two legs, so have natural balance if there's something on the end of each leg. After that it's all about confidence - watch a five year old ski - no fear!
Boarding on the other hand, is not quite so natural, but because it's considered cool, it has a young and vibrant following, and why would any of them switch to ski's?
By the way, I also skiboard - try it ...

By the way, I also skiboard - try it sometime, it's awesome off piste.
i do both but prefer to board, especially on powder days but i dont look that cool in my purple and green all-in-one. i dont sit on the piste all day either cos i dont like getting a wet backside but if i do have to sit and pretent to tighten my bindings i tend to do it on the edge of the piste and not in the middle. whats that all about? i read a comment about it being a pain to undo your bindings for the chair lifts and drags. it is possible to stay strapped in.
BROKE did ya get ya suit from C&A sounds bute.I wouldnt admit that one!I board as well but never in all my 7 years of white sports have i seen boarders stay strapped in too dangerous!I
First time I tried winter sports went boarding, fractured my coccyx & lost all confidence. Agreed to try again the following year so long as we could also try skiing. When we got to the resort Husband changed his mind and said it was pointless hiring 2 lot's of equipment sowe only went boarding, soon regained my confidence (although there was so much powder no amount of falling over would have hurt) and have never wanted to try skiing since.
