Do you really think anyone will contribute to the orphanage fund over the chaos following the last fund raising effort?
As the Insider says, move on, get over it and stop crying like a kid.
I assume this was a late booking so the administration involved in changing the details and notifying their relevant suppliers of the change takes time and human input. They are quite entitled to charge you the admin fee, check the booking conditions you agreed to.
I recently booked a holiday online with Balkan Holidays. However I spelt my own name wrong and now they want to charge me to rectify my mistake. Initallu I went on to a ski forum and tried to convince anyone that would listen that their automated system was at fault but following all of my fellow posters seeing through my lies and pointing out I'm a bit of fool spelling my own name wrong I'm left with ...
Ha ha, Watchdog, are you kidding?
So I guess the letter will read:
Dear Watchdog,
I recently booked a holiday online with Balkan Holidays. However I spelt my own name wrong and now they want to charge me to rectify my mistake. Initallu I went on to a ski forum and tried to convince anyone that would listen that their automated system was at fault but following all of my fellow posters seeing through my lies and pointing out I'm a bit of fool spelling my own name wrong I'm left with no option other than to seek help from watchdog and broadcast to the entire nation that I don't know my own name.
Let's hope the holiday runs smoothly, as long as I manage not to miss the flight!
snowy norman like an idiot you are missing the point . i will spell it out to you .... £45.00 is an excessive charge for a letter change ... if we all acted like you and took it on the chin then then bank charges and credit charges would still be high... i cannot believe you agree with such high charges .. surely we should work as one and denounce these. instead of taking sides with them..unlike you most people i have spoken to would agree a £10.00 charge would be a fairer charge ... travel ...

The threat of bad publicity works more often than you think. I've had a many good replies after starting to use this approach including brand new replacements and vouchers etc.
The point is that £45 is excessive. Balkan is ABTA and IATA registered. Contacting them may get som money back. Just depends on how long you want to spend on getting probably £20 back. Unfortunately I think that Balkan know this and expect that everyone will just take the charge.
LOL at Tims post. At the end of the day, £45 not a fortune and when you consider all the time and effort you'll spend to get it repaid it may just be the principal in the end. Had to pay that amount recently to my dentist for a scale and polish (that I don't think I needed) and THAT HURT TOO!!! So, just think yourself lucky that they didn'y scrape yer teeth!!

re: balkan holidays rip off
I have dealt with Balkan before with matters like these & the problem occurs if its a late booking as it automatically generates an invoice & tickets (depending when you are travelling) whilst sending the information out to their resort staff & inturn the hotels, airline etc. So depending on how quick you notice the mistake will depend on how easy it is to resolve it. All tour operators charge an admin fee if mistakes are made. Balkan are no different. I'm not saying that are a perfect tour ...

I'm not saying that are a perfect tour operator because there is no such thing but offer a good priced service from the UK to an area where others don't & if people keep bashing them then they will look to get business elsewhere & we will all be stuck trying to get to Bulgaria for in my opinion some of the best value skiing in Europe. When booking online you should always check & recheck the important information, names, address etc you would double check your card details wouldn't you?
