re: boarding haters ???

Have to admit that I've yet to see a boarder in a purple retro all in one. Unfortunately, quite a few skiers in them!!
I ski and can't wait to try boarding, and I've dodged as many skiers as I have boarders! Live and let live Razz

re: boarding haters ???

Me bite ????? never !!!!!! hehehehehe
Boarders rule the slopes ?????? not in this life !!!!!!

I will continue to grow old (dis)gracefully, on big fat twin tips covered in skull designs, wearing my skull helmet Razz
tearing through the trees where boarders are afraid to go... at least i won't run one over in there Booze

I will admit as i said, off-piste on a board in deep powder looks fun, as a surfer (Westcountry boy) it seems the natural enviroment....

re: boarding haters ???

An out of control skier nearly wiped out my whole family a couple of years back. There are good and bad skiers AND boarders.

re: boarding haters ???

I have never tried boarding, but always wondered how tiring it actually is.

Because when ever I seem to be skiing behind a boarder, they just seem to thow themselves down on the ground exhausted. It doesnt matter if it is in the middle of the piste, around a blind corner....they dont seem to care, so they must be very tired.

So how tiring is it? And realistically is it possible to board a full run in Bansko on a board? Could you come down Tomba on a board?

BTW I'm not giving out ...

re: boarding haters ???

I've done top to bottom of Bansko on a board but will say the ski road does get a bit boring and hard for beginners it's just not steep enough.
Steve agree with you on the powder bit there's nothing like it on a board, you can keep the tree skiing (trees move for no1) and leave the powder for us????
Any way I'm of to st anton this weekend can't blooming wait!!!!

Charlie - I find boarding a lot more tiring than skiing - and I'm a much better boarder than skiier (not that that's saying much!).
It's because you're almost always either on your toes or heels with bent knees. Flat sections are much more tiring than steep, and get downright painful after a while - the burning in your legs gets pretty intense. There are times when I get to the end of a flat section and collapse for a while on the slope! I do make sure I'm not in the way though, or over a ...

Top of a normal, steepish run to the bottom is easy enough if you're going fast, although you'll be feeling the burn by the bottom. But I can't manage the whole ski road without stopping for a minute. Having said that, I'm not an expert and I'm certainly not the fittest person around!

re: boarding haters ???

Thanks for your replies.

Was at a dry slope at the weekend, only 200m long, and some boarders were well tired by the time they reached the bottom. It does seem to be quite an effort to board.

I dont think I could do boarding. The effort that has to be put in at the start seems to much hassle. A beginner seems to spend 95% of its time sitting down, and its a bit cold to be stting down for that lenght of time.

Chris.. St Anton, home of REAL skiers Wink.... better pack your bullet proof vest, as well as your helmet with neck brace, back protector, lower spine shield, knee and elbow pads, padded shorts etc etc etc.... Its no wonder that boarders are knackered putting all that gear on Razz
But hey !!! its the freedom man Very Happy

Only joking ????? hehehehehe, have a good one Chris, and have a half on me, thats all i could afford in Anton Mad (and that was the summer)
