I always like to read what pilots and cabin crew have to say about strikes etc so .....http://www.pprune.org/
I also like reading what they think of certain celebs! Seems Cilla Black is a nightmare!

re: flights

BA Trolly dollies most certainly get £29k a year and as said virgin £14k, I am uncertain about the budget lines though.

The other thing is Virgin long haul have 13 trolly dollies BA have 16 and the plan was to reduce this to 15 but BA cabin crew state that this is too dangerous... Um H&S issues are not breached with Virgin.

Welsbeef - I need too put you straight on a couple of things - No.1 an extremely low proportion of cabin crew at Heathrow get £29k a year - the majority earn apprx £20k as main crew!! At Gatwick they earn even less - £18k or so. The news isnt picking up on the fact that that there is a massive difference in pay between Gatwick and Heathrow - yet the changes will effect both! No.2 - The reason they cannot afford to let the number of crew on Longhaul be decreased is that it halfs their promotion prospects - becuase the crew member they are getting rid off is of a higher rank. As I said above, I do hope it gets sorted before the strike though for the people who are booked

Tom - you are not picking up on the fact that they have chosen one of the busiest periods of the year to stage this rediculous walk out, and have shown scant regards to the effect it will have on the poor sods who's plans for Xmas have been devistated. They could have walked out today - but no, lets make it as tough for the holiday makers as we possibly can and ruin their holiday plans! If it's not Cabin Crew then it's baggage handlers or air traffic controllers.

They hold us to ransom ...

They hold us to ransom almost on a yearly basis now and people have had enough of it.

Quote "the majority earn apprx £20k as main crew!! " oh yes what a disgusting wage to earn to see the world and stay in top class hotels with free meals and drinkies. I don't know how the poor luvies cope. Confused

Just listening to some of them bleeting on Radio 2 one said he earned 26K last year!!!!! What they all fail to grasp is that this could well be the final nail in the coffin for BA.

Pete I see exactly what you saying, and I agree that they should do it at a different time of year. It just gets to me that everyone calling them this and that for striking over proposals that will effect their wages/work in not a positive way.

Daniel - although I see what your sayin, yes they do get some nice perks - but everyone has a choice of the job they do more or less and expect to get a fair wage for it. At the end of the day although there is the nice hotels and stopovers they do ...

re: flights

I've had a 10% pay cut this last year, and I'm still working cause it's better than staying at home and being out of work. If they don't like their new conditions then they have a choice, leave or accept them. Simples.
BA should sack them and start employing people that want to work. I'm sure Virgin staff would be interested.
