Tom that is a fair wage that's my point. You know what you are going to earn when you start a job and I would say if you do this sort of job you do it because you want to travel. I have had to take a large pay cut this year because I am self employed, what can I do about it Bugger all, but it was my choice to become self employed and do what I do so tough titty for me. That's life I am afraid. They should be bloody grateful that they earn a pretty decent wagea nd a few perks with it and ...

Tom
I dont think you would be so forgiving if it affected you directly.
I mean i didnt go home last xmas so this year its my turn.
Our flights cost 1000 and now i have had to pay the travel agent another 800 just for changing the day of the flight from the 23 to the 19th dec..
Pete, im sure you're a well nice passenger to have on a flight! As for cleverness - if you actually understood the amount of training involved for that job - im sure you would agree they aint 'waitress' in the sky!' Mark J - I am not saying I would be happy at all, I would be very annoyed. However I understand why there striking and they arent earnin as much as is being made out.
I believe for a company to 'make their impact' during a strike - is to do it at the busiest time - unfortunately for us! The same happens with dustbin men who decide to go on strike in Greece in 40c heat of summer (stinking bags of rubbish including toilet paper!) - they soon get what they want!!!
Training involves opening and closing doors and serving meals and cleaning up. Very little else for the average steward.
They have been offered between 2% and 7% increase for 75% of the workforce. More flexible working hours and BA have never ever refused to sit down and negotiate. What do Unite think they will achieve by holding 1 million people to ransom.
Sorry Tom - I know you are doing your best to see some reason to all this - but try telling that to a 6 year old who has been ...

Sorry Tom - I know you are doing your best to see some reason to all this - but try telling that to a 6 year old who has been looking forward to his holiday for months!
Striking in any industry in my mind should be illegal. This country has gone to the dogs and BA have flown us there!
I hope they all have a thoroughly dreadful Xmas - as will many of their loyal passengers thanks to their selfish actions.
My housemate was a trolly dolly and the extras they earn on top of there wages is pretty darn good too!
It makes me a bit mad bleeting about their wages and promotion prospects, I work for the Ambulance service and get paid less then a trolly dolly?! Say no more!!
