It's like being a nurse, or similar, and balking at having to work shifts. And anyway, anyone who can afford not to paid fully over the period they strike must be earning a substantial wage to be able to afford it - how many people do you know who could manage to do that?!?
To hold people to ransom, some of whom will have booked dream holidays months and months ago is just so wrong.
If only you all knew the details of why they are striking
Pete - lol i like the effort put in to the job description, which is all part of the job - however, what about medical situations, I.e. heart attacks, DVT?? how is this all dealt with? Also , are we all aware of what to in an emergency situation - bearing in mind that there are vast range of things that can go wrong!! Safety is the primary reason they are there - responsibility.
Tom - regardless of whether we know all the details or not, maybe they should be thankful they are still in a job in the current climate. If they don't like their current position, maybe they could look for employment elsewhere instead of stamping their feet about it.
