In this day and age there is no excuse for not knowing what to expect when you get on your hols, not that long ago we didn't have the facilities at our fingertips on the internet. Personally, anyone who books a ski holiday without researching it is a numpty in my book - it's not like having a summer hol where the beach might not be as close as you'd like. If you pick the wrong resort for your ability or pocket when it comes to skiing, you are well and truly stuck with it. Nuff said ...

Raff - where are you staying, we're off to Lion in Boro from Manchester on 28th Feb, getting excited now.
Borovets is truly a dreadful, dreadful experience. I stayed at the Hotel Village which is supposedly "4 Star". If 4 Star means that if (God forbid) you ask for another cup of coffee at breakfast then you have to pay extra for it (you want fresh Orange Juice? That will be 16 Levs!), or Chicken at supper is served raw in the middle then I think I might have to go 5 Star next time. Except that there most certainly won't be a next time as the mangy Dogs strolling the streets (streets lol) ...

Except that there most certainly won't be a next time as the mangy Dogs strolling the streets (streets lol) gypsy beggars, stinking bars, obnoxious drunken Brits, plethora of seedy sex clubs, awful restaurants and crap slopes preclude me ever setting foot in Bulgaria ever again. Avoid at all costs.
I think those complaining somewhat miss the point. Until recently this was a communist country and it will decades and considerable amounts of money to catch up with the rest of europe now it is in the EU.
we have been coming since 2004 and have noticed the changes for the better but these things take time. we have also noticed with this the prices going up.
If you want the standards of Austria and France then go there. Otherwise bear this in mind when you book.
We now have ...

We now have many bulgarian friends who we visit 3-4 times a year for skiing as well as holidays in the summer and wouldn't change it for the world.
If its that bad why do some many come year after year. Like us under the current economic climate and the rate of the pound money is tight out there. Dont forget ski seson only last 4 months tops many of these people rely upon tourist to make there money for the year. So at times they may seem a little pushy but wouldn't we if it was the other way round.
For someone thats posted over 80 times on a message board for a place they hate Katie I wonder if you have any compulsive phsycological disorders? usualy once is enough then you move on.
