Colin are you a large group? as it does seem you have found a bargain holiday, I was thinking more on the price difference for a couple flying out and staying in a reasonable hotel HB.
My own personal opinion (and I have no axe to grind so it's just how I feel, not fact) is that:

i reckon that many posters were people who had been to Bulgaria many times and had decided not to go in view of the above. I didn't go for the first time last year (in 7 years) and this led to me visting here less often and also making next to no posts.
I think that a very small number of people (trolls and partisan users) take this a little to seriously. Surely it's meant to be informative and fun??!?
Peace love and hugs.

IMO depends if you do off piste or not - For that Cham amazing. Otherwise for me its too spread out across a number of area e.g. Le Tour, Agentier etc although there are many, many more pistes than BG, just a take abit of getting to.
I also queued for 1.5 hours for the Cham gondola in March 03 and Cham's so expensive when I was there it's untrue - £25 for fondue (bread a cheese), £4 - £5 a pint.
